hi dean, its a ball contact non mercury gas filled switch that is hermatically sealed,in general terms a vibration switch,it`s in an off state until vibrated ;\) once vibrated its state fleets between on/off state and at rest is in off position \:\)

basically its removing any the switching from the head to the bobbin which is already being used anyway,so why not have the switch in there and completely seal the head from any weather induction, firstly! this was designed with simplicity and eternal use in mind..proper vid comin soon \:\)

the main difference with this alarm than any other offerings past present and future,is now yer can fish with bobbins further past alarms, up the rod and get indication at the alarm,no rain can enter this alarm...givin it eternal lasting reliability..infact i`m that confident and i could say..these will deffinately last you a life time!!!

Like the idea, can we have two LED's though. And what are you going to make the lead from the bobbin to the head with. I can see that as been the main problem, with the thing fracturing with the constant flexing from takes(?), being wrapped around the buzz bar, people like me using 4oz bobbins - the bobbin head will be interchangeable won't it?

I had the same problem about 20 years ago making bobbins that lit up. They plugged into the jack lead on me delkim conversions. The problem being that the electrical connection also has to bear the weight of the bobbin being dropped and they were forever not working.

Yours is a good idea though keep it up.

all your fears/eventuallities are taken care of with this alarm windknot ..like you! i did the same twenty odd years back with great results, thought it was a step backwards at the time so discarded the idea, since new developments in knowledge of carpin on distance n travel b4 indication of late, thought i`d re-invent the past and bring it into the future, bobbins up further up the rod is what triggered my memory bank,

just a bit more info,
...reet fellas, got 4 of these completely done apart from the covers i`m waiting on whats gonna cover the extension socket at the back, the extra louder sounder with volume control is finished electronically and is waiting on parts to fully box up and complete, with this box attached and has a great tone and will give one toners..just like a fox

firstly i`d like to add,i fished a rock hard water in the 80`s,where you got one bleep and you was cut off with the surrounding snaggs in the water..so you had to be on the ball for your entire session..leavin yer goin home more shagged than you went.
,

anyway back to the 80`s and the one bleeps ..at that time i was pissed off goin home shagged thru havin to be alert whilst fishin,i incorporated what is in this diddy alarm above into an `oppo`.

then one night i was getting tired on this what, could be one fish in 4 years water and that was doing good
i`m in my bag,the bobbin with the sensor in gave off a few bleeps..but nowt from the wheel operation of the oppo as this was a separate tone ....lines were reasonably tight as you do snagg fishin,i thought..censored!!! this fookin bobbins a foookin crap idea..its fooked!!!

when i calmly clambered out of me bag,put on me welly`s and walked over to the rods to investigate why this bobbin was playin up ,just as i got to the rods!..the bobbin bleeped a few times again
then the oppo bleeped once ..i strook and caught my first twenty common!!!
thats why i reckon this system will take some beating by any other alarm on the market past present or future ,this system will undoubtably benefit those who put their bobbins further up the rod past the alarms

vid comin soon

Will you be putting some sort of sensitivity adjustment on the box?

no m8,the sensitivity will resort back to the bobbin,ie..sensitive on calm day`s-light bobbins ,less sensitive on windy days-heavier bobbins ;)...as per norm

and bobbin will uncrew at the switch \:\)
