Why not stick to petrol i dont have any problems with it and i guess the fish dont like panel wipe either so you still have to take rubber gloves with you

i suppose i live in hope that there might be a cleaner alternative to petrol ? because even with using redex my stoves still dont seem to last long ,
its very strange , my first coleman lasted me 8 years without ever using the redex, now i use it ,i'm on my second in five years and this one is behaving strange is petrol worse now than ten or so years ago ? or is redex not as good ?

since when did you northerners need petrol to run a horse & cart
you could be right though m8 , they take the pizz out of us in the south with everything else , so why not petrol

I've given up on buying new generators they are not as good as they used to be and I've now changed to a coleman F1 gas stove which is very good.

Cheers
Saul

Don't think that Coleman Stoves are as good as they used to be. I brought one in 1992, that lasted with Heavy use until 1998, when the discs at the top wore out. It had not needed any spares or replacements, just occasional cleaning
Yet the replacement I bought in 1998 was absolutely awful. Every 3 months the generator needed cleaning, and/or replacing. The pump needed regular replacing as well. Eventually it actually decided not to work when it was switched on. I took it apart on the Bank, cleaned it, refitted it, still wouldn't work. Did it again, turned it on to light and nothing. Picked it up to look at it (stupidly still with the lever in light) and as I did so it sprayed petrol all over my face and chest.

Strange straight after that trip I went into Camping Shop and bought a Coleman BackPacker Gas Stove.
If you use Propane/Butane Mix Cartridges they work even in low temperatures

Colemans are a pain in the rear for sure but I still doubt they can be bettered as a brewing machine. In my experience the secret to long generator life is to maintain a high pressure by regular pumping.

Propane/Butane Mix Cartridges are without a doubt a big step in the right direction but despite claims their performance DOES drop in cold weather, especially if the cartridge is not full. I use both but the gas is mainly used as a back up or when you need a delicate touch. Colemans do not do finesse, its all or nothing not exactly the best stove for slow cooking or fried eggs. \:\)

Get down the £1 shop and pick up the 2 pack hand warmers, buy yerself a gas jacket and put a hand warmer in the bottom of the jacket, never have a prob in the winter with lack of pressure in yer gas cannister again.

Had a coleman double burner for years and it is a quality sesh cooker, never cleaned it and it's never gone wrong.
