But where??

After spending a good few weekends up on ken and castle lock years ago its time to revisit my youth.

Looking for somewhere to head off to for the weekend with the chance of a few fish and the possibility of a few doubles...would be nice to see a good fish or two.

Anyone got any ideas of where would suit?

Dave

Dave, why don't you join the PAC - you'd have access to tons of info as well as access to their fish-ins, including ones atthe awesome Menteith....

Without naming any names;

The old man was a member for years and watched the PAC turn into something that was not a patch on what it once was.
The attitude of the so called top bodies and the general decline of the running was the cause of him dropping his membership.

On the flip side i have heard that its getting a better following of late and a friend has recently joined up.....

May give it some thought but not untill all the club tickets have been paid for!!!! OUCH!

According to a few people I know that fish or used to fish in that area of Scotland a hell of a lot it has declined with the increase in popularity/pressure (as usual with pike) and most of the popular lochs are mainly jacks waters. Still a chance of a few doubles in them though.

Thats why its been a few years sime we were there... could pop down the local canal and catch the same as we would if we traveled all that way!!

hi dave

I sent a suggestion via PM out of respect to my friends who are regular up there.

Although the venue is no great secret (see google), I would appreciate you keeping quiet.

If you are serious I would be happy to get the latest info about the fishing.

Don't know if you have heard of the place ?

I think Castle Loch is the place. I have not fished it for years, but have very fond memories of the fishing and the nights drinking McEwans. Always headed for the Island on the Castle side, wade across in chesties with the gear in a cheap inflatable. It gives you access to deep water fishing to the main body of the Loch, and Shallows fishing into the bay....and, one of the smaller Lakes, Mill Loch I think, did a 40 not long back I hear, so you have the variety too.
