Im confused also!! Why would there be no point in staying after a capture like that?? Surely if you're chuckin a sickie to go fishin, you stay longer than 35mins???
I dont get why your confused, unless you didn't read Realtree1's post properly,he states that......... have caught 14 carp only 1 of them has come after 7.30am
Why stay if past experience shows the majority of takes happen before 7.30??? it aint rocket science
how can said angler state that the fish showed no signs of distress?? How do you know it was showing distress when he released it?? thats just speculation. The fish could well have seemed fighting fit when it was returned. How many anglers stay at the waterside after a fish has been returned for hours on end just incase it swims back to the edge in distress??
backstabbing/bitching/people trying their utmost to discredit decent anglers/infantile behaviour/blatant envy.....this forum paints a sorry picture of what carping is like!

Must admit the timescale of the capture is very tight.
Dropped off at 07.00am, rods in by 7.10am, so thats 10 minutes to the swim and fishing. Hook into the fish while rods are on the floor, let's say 07.12am.
It takes around the same time to pack the gear down, so 10 mins to pack down and load the car and leave, which is now 07.35am.
That's approx 23 minutes maximum to play, land, weigh, 2 quick pics, 30 second video of a 46lb carp. Most of which probably done alone, girlfriend would have been parking the car or on her way home? Not saying it can't be done but would have to be pretty slick to do it, particularly handling a fish of that size.

This is an excellent read, and quite sad, but dare I say predictable. I imagine the closest the majority of posters will get to fishing Tatton is having a day out with the kids, but all of a sudden everyones in the know and wants a bit
A few facts to consider when slagging people off.
1) Carp die...and the reaction is oh so predictable. Its a gutter fo the captor, and 99 percent of the time is nowt to do with them, apart from catching it in the first place.
2) Carp anglers guest, do sly nights, poach etc. Its what we do, its in the blood. Eveyone who catches the Black Mirror from Colnemere has broken the law, yet they are treated like gods. If someone has sneaked a night on Tatton, well its not like they have hidden Madeline Mcann in there is it
3) People sack fish, and everyone knows about it. Thats why people buy carp sacks And people sack fish when they shouldn't, and other people take their pics in the morning...and in the NW too, without meaning to stoke things up
You have to Separate a clubs rule on sacking from the actual act of sacking, as its not the same thing.
Finally, and I dont know the lads concerned so its not meant at them, there isn't any apprentiship these days. Once people have learned how to tie a knotless knot they want thirties, forties etc. Thats bound to have inexperienced anglers fishing for some of our jewels...so things could go wrong more often.
Sad anyway, but great thread, just like the owld days
