how is it that in the pursuit of fish ,regardless of the species,we can allow the planning of their capture and subsequent trips to take up every ounce of our time, effort, and in certain instances make us forget our family commitments???? WOT PRIMITIVE FORCE DRIVES US TO SACRIFICE ALL WE HOLD DEAR FOR THE CAPTURE OF A CARP????/

There is an almost mythical aura surrounding carp fishing, now as then, to my mind there is more of an element of competitiveness among carpers, perhaps less obvious than the 70's and as such , goads anglers to address all and every option in order to succeed. Not a snipe or anything, we have all gained insight into the carps habits, digestive system, biological tendencies etc. more knowledge = progress. When you say obsession you hit a point, it is for those so afflicted and a greater understanding results from it. All good and we can gain encouragement to seek out and further our understanding. Experience is seldom wasted. I can occasionally understand the fickleness of nature better than that of the human interpretation of the world, it's a more gut feeling sixth sense emotion that has been blanketed by the restrictions of modern life. Has anyone felt alone and scared night fishing by themselves even though no animal in Britain will attack them? Primeval senses and utilising our own 5 (or 6 ) Better stop now.

By the sounds of it your other half is giving you a hard time, like not spending enough time with her & kids whilst you are in full on carp hunting mode
