I have no idea what this could be and it is certainly nothing to do with FW.

Could you have a bug on your computer?

I havnt a clue either. What we do know is that it shouldnt do it, I cant see it being a virus (never heard of a advetising virus) so for my money I would guess at a rougue cookie. Try clicking on tools on your task bar, internet options, general tag, temporary internet files, delete files, check the box to delete all of line content then click ok. This may take a while dependent upon how long it is since you last dumped all your cookies. Dont worry you cant lose any files that you need, these are all just cookies. If that doesnt work then I am stumped.

If you look through the free cover disks that you get with computer magazines there are various programs to stop pop-ups, and to delete rougue cookies. I have one called Ad-aware 5.0, and another one called Pop-up Stopper.
The only trouble with deleting all cookies is that they contain information such as passwords and customised settings. If you delete the FW cookie you will have to set your site preferences up all over again. The Ad-aware programme lets you remove them selectively. You can probably find those or similar ones by just keying in some keywords into a search engine such as Google.

Dropback,
Another tip is to use a firewall as this will stop people accessing your system when you are online, it also stops software you have on your computer acting as a server (sending and receiving information without your permition, this is generaly called "Spyware") companies such as Lexmark who make printers are renouned for doing this. It is a way of collecting information on the sites you visit and reporting this back to the company and they then "send relevant offers" depending on your surfing habits, or this is the excuse they use for having it on heir instalation software. So it could be "Spyware" built into a program you have installed which is causing these adds to appear. For a free personal firewall go to www.zonealarm.com or if you are using windows XP then it has it's own personal firewall built in and you could try reconfiguring it.

Hope this helps.

I also have ZoneAlarm, which is a free download, and extremely effective. I've got so used to it that I forgot to mention it. It goes off all the time when I'm using Kazaa, so if you use that, it's a probable source of dodgy cookies.

and for the latest zonealarm try this link above

if you have windows xp,you can control which cookies individually, creating rules for them as you go along.
if your a windows 98 user, theres a program called cookie pal which is readily available on the net, although you will need to either purchase it,or find a username and password from somewere if you know what i mean
