Axe Talk2 is an online E-mail service that uses your web browser instead of a POP3 mail server. This means you can access your e-mail from any Internet connected system worldwide without having to setup server addresses, etc in Outlook/Eudora etc. HoTMaiL is another online / browser based Email service. It is worth having either of these as a back up to your POP3 service. Outlook Express is fine, security wise, if you keep it updated using the Windows Update feature. Also ensure that you have a good anti-virus package (with latest definitions) installed as well just to make sure. Failing all the above, why not use Microsoft Outlook (full version) if you have MS Office installed. This is what I use and don't have any problems. ------------------ Darren Wilson

Thanks Darren and Lancs. I will investigate. I do like the idea of access from any web source. Can these web based mails then be saved to Hard drive (for reference) in case of server crash etc.? Outlook.....Might have to start trusting Microsoft again...... Someone did tell me about twigger.com which allows one to access pop3 mail servers from other net connections. Just not checked it yet. Axe.

You could take another route. Sign up with aol. I have used it since day one. The software they provide has everything you need, its an integrated package. 14 quid, free calls. Over the years I have used demon, unet, bt etc, just to compare. AOL is superb. Dont let the "family orientated " ads put you off. You can just use it as a dial up and use any other software. It also takes its usenet feed from the states, where there censorship laws are not quite as strict, if you see what I mean. Connie doesnt mention that, I believe :-)

Axe Mail2Web allows you to sccess your POP3 based mail via a HTML connection. You need to know your POP3 address to check though (which most users don't). You can save HoTMaiL & Talk21 pages to your HDD as HTML files for Offline Browsing by using the "File-Save As" command in IE or Netscape. ------------------ Darren Wilson
