Lets say you have a lake with two previously uncaught upper forties. The lake is maybe 70-100 acres and there are only 20 carp or so, there are relativley few bream and tench as well.

What are your views on heavy baiting on lakes like this? I ask this question because I have recently read a couple of accounts of Colnemere by different anglers. Terry Hearn mentions in his book that several lightly baitied spots were going 'off' because the carp just weren't eating the bait. Then I read Dave Mallins account where he piled the BFM in like its going out of fashion. Both these anglers caught the big un from opposite ends of the baiting scale.

Thoughts?????

It has just been posted on another site about naturals and stalking etc. Although this is undoubtably a method that would work. I am mainly interested in the pros and cons of a heavy baiting campaign.

Thanks in advance, DS

EW,
Depending on the shape of your lake i would select the most promising feature/swim on each bank (up to four). Bait heavily firstly using fast breakdown pellets, sweetcorn and maggots add boilies (lightly skinned)after about four baitings of small food mix, totalling 5 kilos. No rotten bait to worry about. Carry on walking the water and fishing lightly baited spots if carp located while conditions dictate a trip fishing the trap. Won't be uncaught for long.
Good luck with your quest. and KIS. (Keep it secret!!!).
