Never heard of them but it'll be a safe bet they are a variety of Phaseolus vulgaris (pinto, kidney, haricot beans).

I'll keep an eye out for them. Which supermarket?
I can easily find out what species they are in the uni library on monday. They have a handy book on the worlds crops, it covers toxins in the seeds and allsorts and it has come in handy when common names for particles differ i.e. the proper common name for the plant that produces tares is vetch (grew this for my research project)
