I went to a talk by Martin Clarke wednesday night and he was talking about the potential of large boating / ski lakes. Has any of the forum members attacked these waters and what approach has worked??
Here's a few to start with:

1). Prebaiting certain areas
2). Generally using wind to advantage
3). How to deal with boat activity

I THINKYOU WILL FIND THAT BOAT /SKI LAKES TEND TO BE QUIET BUSY HAVE A LOOK WHEN ITS AT ITS BUSYIST YOU WILL FIND THAT THEY TEND TO USE CERTIAN PARTS OF THE LAKE CONSISTANTLY NOW DONT LET THE BUSYNESS OF IT PUT YOU OFF THIS CAN BE AN ADVANTAGE ,THE FISH WILL MORE THAN LIKLEY BE USED TO THIS AND THERE FORE MOVE TO OTHER AREAS OF THE LAKE I.E MARGINS SNAGS BAYS, HAVE A GOOD WALK AROUND THE LAKE CHECKING EACH SPOT IN TURN, I HAVE DISCOVERD A LOT THAT OTHERS FISHING AT MY LOCAL SKI LAKE DONT SEEM TO HAVE BECOUSE THEY SIT IN A SWIM AND DONT MOVE OR ONLY FISH WHEN THERE IS NO BOAT ACTIVITY??????? ILL BE FISHING IT DAYS ONLY THIS YEAR AFTER I HAVE SPENT A FEW WEEKS BAITING SPOTS THAT I HAVE SEEN THEM FEEDING IN ON VERY BUSY OPEN DAYS WITH LOTS OF MAIZE HOPE THIS HELPS.

I used to fish a lake that was full of water skiers, and twice a month held formula 2 power boat meetings. The fish for one didn't give a crap. I caught fish here in the middle of a race meeting. I guess they were just all use to it. I never had a problem with the boats. the lake did, as the waves continually washed away any swims that had been built and the lake's size increased every year. The only time I had a problem was when one skier can within feet of the bank and soaked me. A few warning shots accross his bow with my old trust black widdow did the trick.

The wind did make a difference on this lake, The fish floowed new winds to the letter, and early on in the year when the fish spawned they would then seek out a quieter area.

Prebaiting did help, but seemed to bring all the smaller fish onto the bait. I had a greater number of bigger fish when using just stringers with a light scattering of bait. It was a case of first fish gets it. Reducing the overall numbers of fish, but increasing the quality.
But then this will depend on the lake and not really the effect of boats.
