Joe,
I think I may have met you once on the Plex, You were down for the night next to the hedge, in fact you were on the right hand side as you look at the water. If I remember right I caught 2 roach, I was the giant bloke that came chatting to you, it's my first year in Wheelock.
I don't think I know Ant B, well i might do if I saw him

Holts on the Middlewich ticket - 2 blank recent sessions. Fruit/Trigga/Assanin8, nothing would wake them over a small maggot/pellet/hemp bed.

Some Pike activity, saw 3 caught in one session to 10lb. I don`t like the lake at all, but theres a small review for you all.

JDB,
only had 1 fish since I met you, a nice 20.04 fully scaled. Done 3 blank nights since. Mainly mid week over nighters(off to work at 6.00am).

The morning after the fully scaled a local day angler followed me in, I got back on the lake as he was packing up to do the night, he had a 24 & a 21 in 10mins that I photoed for him.

I then blanked the night.

There were 2 guys in the bay on muddy side but they blanked. Moss Kieto did about 4 nights last week and blanked. I havn't seen your mate(Mr Millenge) on since the fireworks.

It looks like its going to be a very patchy winter on there.

ant i know what you mean it does look bad for the winter but you just got to stick it out.

i will be doing 2 day sessions in the next week as my rooster in work is crap and the next weekend i have off i will be going to
sandown if all goes to plan.

its good to hear someone is catching . mr millenge. ant he is mad as hat that bloke but he makes me laugh.

Gawsworth, wall pool - Saturday report (6 anglers, including me and the missus) Baliff arrived at 9:30 (note for future ticket dodging!) No EA baliff arrived (as usual). 3 bleeps. Woohoo. No runs, nowt. Tried Assasin-8 pop`d, bottom. Nutrafruit cranberry on a method. Even tried the trusty worms and maggots. Missus had a pop`d Pinap/banana Mainline, and a pop`d Nutra strawberry. One 6 bleeper on the strawberry. Her baits were out for 9 hrs. Mine were out 6 hrs (most) then spent the afternoon trying hrly stints on different techniques. No carp landed. None landed on the lake at all. Oh well theres always tomorrow. Sunday blanks report expect Monday! Confidence is high, I repeat high, (not really, I`m being sarcastic)

Put in another blank on Friday as well Ant - fished road bay - main bay was stitched on field side and didn't have my waders for the hedge side - far as I know no one caught.

The more blanks I have the surer I am of having a big hit soon , as I've not caught off there at all this year though - well theres always next time.

moss your not on your own kidder just done sunday. had 2 fish roll over the hookbait fishing opposite the stile.

guess what the local day angler knocked out two upper doubles. thats the first time someone has caught when i have blanked.

the local day angler has been on a roll.he has had 4 twentys and 4 doubles in the last 3 weeks. and my mate mad millenge has had 3twentys and 1 double

they have been coming out in the last three weeks. i am confident when i am on there but i have blanked a fair bit 11 nights and one day session up to now. one fish of 24.15 and bream and tench on every trip apart from the day session on sunday. anyway keep it regular
and real. ,JDB , KIR

JDB,
Had an 18 last night, just after 8 in the evening.

Quite a lot of fish showing 'till it went really cold.

Packed up at 5:30 this morning, my Trakker was froze solid.

Still all worth while for a fish.

Harv,
Only fished there once this year. however I've fished there a lot over the years. If you are fishing the day go for one of the middle area swims and fish tight to the tree line, yes TIGHT even if its cold.

Don't put much bait in, max 20 boilies per rod, better around 10.

Keep an eye out for showing fish as you can normally get a pick up if they are showing.

Other areas do produce in the winter but the far margin is a good all round bet.

The night can prove to be your best bet, me and Moss had a lot of action one January in the night sessions even on a very heavy frost and lake freezing conditions. Then hardly anything in the day.

But most important as I said earlier LOOK for fish moving.

Good luck, if I get chance I will have a wander down.

Ant.B

Jesus, Joe, it was cold packing up at 5.30 this morning. Big fat blank for me, anything for you? There was couple of fish showing in front of you as it calmed off last night.

If you didn't catch last night, keep on going it WILL come.

ant no kidder not a thing. i say ant i did not see any fish at all that session but i did sleep that night 10pm until 5am.

woken up by the noise of someone trying to pack his bivvy away. "hard as nails ant" that must have been hard work kidder that was a good frost. the good thing about that session was no tench or bream happy days time to get the bait in

right i am off good to here what the rest of you are up to. get it posted regular and real JDB ECHO

....and I was right.....blanked. Very cold but very picturesque. We were the only two on the bank, after 12:00. The others couldn`t hack the cold.

Thanks for Derri boots and ESP fleece hats!

A bleep wouldn`t have gone a miss though.

the frost is well pissing me of one day the lakes have thawed the next day there frozen

one of lads told me somethink the other day
the frost is not pissing ben seal of by all accounts ben has had three fish from under the ice ben was caught in a frost and he kept
smashing the ice around the rods and caught a fish on each rod he casted out. all fish between 25/30 ben if you visit let us know if its true. good bit of anglerling.

i have finished work for christmas today but
i have a very painful stiff neck so i am total guttered. but i will be out boxing day
even if it kills me.

just letting you know some news the nw is getting a big ECHO backing and i hope everyone will help me show the uk the nw heritage. will let the cat out of the bag in the new year

anyway hope all you nw anglers have a good fishing christmas lets hope the frost stays
at bay.

just like to say happy new year to all nw anglers.
also just like to bring you all up to date with crab.

i have done 16 nights this year for one fish 24.15 mirror it was a old warrior peach
of a fish. and a stack of bream and tench 11 nights in nov and dec

in the last month of the autum nov the local day angler was to rod with seven fish to 24
he blank dec.

in the first month of winter dec. ant.b was top rod with 4 fish biggest 26 common all the
fish expert one came from the same swim.

I've been on the weaver today with a couple of mates for a social. Fished the boats, and we all blanked. Some lads were on vale royal locks and they blanked aswell.

yip ee i have been out today its been more than 16 days since i have been out due to work and frost.

i went to a local canal. "widnes canal spike island". i fished here last year in april and
had a few out to 19lb and a freind of mine had a twenty which i was well gald to see.

i have been keeping intouch with this canal stretch and its been doing fish in the winter a few tewnty's too.

also a big common was caught in october the lad who caught it beleaves it to be 32lb.but i get the impression that it might be a little incorrect as afew lads have told me that the bloke who caught the common was a bit wobbley when comeing to weighing fish.

anyway there has been a big common caught but what its correct weigth is who knows. anyway
canal's doing twenty's i remember the day's
you would struggle to do doubles.

Ive replied to a couple of your pms most recently on the Colemere thread.
usually fish with Batey and on occasions with Batty (you must remember the Redesmere Mentalists calling card in your frying pan on Colemere !)
Tend to fish Colemere on my own, no one else mad enough ! wouldn't mind a go on Pickmere if anyone could supply any info.

I will post a pick of the 29 when I figure out how to do it !

Ste M , who actually has the rights to Carterhouse now that Lymm have let it go ??.It was supposed to be free the last I heard, also do you pasrk near the signal box or do you know another way of getting on to it. I parked near signal box when I fished it but came back to find back windscreen put through and never went back we used to fish down near the power station and had a good few fish but not as big as you had.I would love to go back if you know where to park the car thats safe let me know .
P.S how do you get to spike island from carterhouse amnd is it safe car parking.

i think you'll find that fishing at Spike Island has now been stopped by the council due to the boats being hit by leads.
Most problems with parking at Carterouse tends to be when Gypsies are camped on the land adjacent to the building there.
Touch wood I have never had a problem.
Warrington A.A now have the rights to this stretch so we might find ourselves catching these fish in Moore Quarry soon !

as you can guess lad's my password has been used instead of my user's name " with out sounding bitter has anyone else
had this problem".

anyway on to report's cheshire my contact at blake has found him self a woman so i dont know what's going on but i can tell you this. i was at the agm of the club and by all count's there is 85 on the waiting list.

dont know about the rest of the northwest angler's but this month has been a bummer for me to get any fishing done with the frost's work and metting's i have managed three night's this month.

i was at crab at the weekend and blanked and by all account's so has everyone else.
one fish has been off all january but ant is doing a single night throw this week so who know's he might do a fish

anyway lads am off to oxford for 5 night's friday to wednesday if i catch ant has said he will keep you up to date throw to me texting him dont think i will get petal's as it was off last week at 47lb "petal's any fish will do i have not had a fish since october " well am off enjoy your fishing this weekend were ever you are

I had my `real name/full name` displayed instead of psuedonym name, so I re-registered.

Woman, BL00dy woman? So? I tell you what, it might all be flowers and roses now; but give him 6 months, and he`ll be crawling back to the lakeside, begging forgiveness, asking to be allowed back on the banks and apologising for his bad ways.

Oh well, I`ll day ticket Blake this weekend. I too haven`t had a fishing session since December the 9th, how cr*p is that?

85 on the list, glad I got my name down so early - I`m 41, fingers crossed for this year; but I`m not confident....I`ll be honest.

Did Sunday on Clifton. All quiet down there at the moment. Tench are coming out though so the carp may be moving. Don't think there has been anything out since Noveember but I might be wrong. Give it a few weeks and there will be carp on the banks, mark my words.

Best of luck fellas,

Yeah it is abit of a mare!, I dont think I'll be going back in to much of a hurry, we were informed by the local catch report and the warden that there had only been 1 x fish out this year until young Maccomb and myself arrived. You do get mithered a bit so i'd go for a midweek trip mate.

i gather you lot are not getting out then.
what can i say i had a cracking weekend just gone. on the saturday
i went across to lancshire to have a social with the lad's on smith's and beleave me it was a big eye opener
and there was alot to discuss and beleave me i had my high's and low's but i enjoyed every minute of my time spent at smith's i would just like to say thankyou to all the people who have contributed to what i am trying to acheive also to the lad's who still turn up at smith's see you all in august.

on the sunday i had another day session on crab and blanked

BUT ON TUESDAY GUESS WHAT I BROKE MY WINTER BLANK WIP EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE IN THE SHAPE OF A 16. 1/2 COMMON to say i was happy would be a understatement beleave me that common was offering
me a hand in marriage due to me kissing it that much.
well that what's i have been up to hear from you lot soon

Heres the most obvious advice (you`ll think I`m taking the p1ss but honestly I`m not).

1. A good bait
2. A simple rig
3. Most important - Keep going back.

You can only blank so many times.....it will come good!

Just keep on those banks and a result will come your way.

You will av one of em Charles, just a matter of time.
I was out myself for an over nighter on Saturday/Sunday but blanked. But did photograph a rather nice 25.10 mirror for Andy Winterbottom. The fish is believed to be over 30 years old and came from a small tricky Cheshire syndicate of which he is a member. thats all folks

I won`t be on the `canal` this weekend...its a blow because after last year and early this, I`m getting to know the water really well - I`m working in Glasgow (((

won`t be on the next weekend either as I`m going on Holiday to Norfolk (fishing of course!!!).

But Joe, def get in touch for a `get together`, you can give me a push with the trolley up `cardiac hill` when I finish!!!!!!!!

Cheers

I dont know who the captor was and can not reveal the where abouts of the lake but a chap fishing an afternoon session on his local Cheshire water banked a superb 31.12 mirror and set what I believe to be a new lake record for the water. So if your reading this "chap" well done to you.

I can't and won't name waters to satisfy peoples curriosity, no one told me in which waters the big fish live, myself and friends have had to get maps ect.. and spend in some cases weeks tracking them down. If you cant
be arsed to do the ground work you dont deserve to know.
Then thers the matter of respecting peoples fishing Im sure the "chap" does not want a load of bounty hunters desending on the water and who can blame him.

harv i know its not up to hotshot to tell us about the capture of the massive
mirror caught in the nw. it is up to the person who caught the fish my
point exactly.

it is just hotshot trying to be a smart arse in letting you know
that he know's and what am saying is were is the point. it is
gaining not think but that hotshot know's.big deal
hotshot scoreing ponit's on other people's glory am sure if the bloke who caught
the fish if he does come on here if he wanted you to know he would have let you know

the whole point of this threadis putting in YOUR report's talking to other angler's in the nw about YOUR fishing.

hotshot i know you are part of the grapevine in the nw and you have freind's like myself who fish none stop
throw the year and they dont want other people fishing there lake after the hard work they have put in throw the winter to have someone come down and sit in the swim they have put time in on.

know one is asking them to it is pure your own choice to put in YOUR own report's on this thread
hotshot get of your high horse take a pill and chill out and stop being a pleb and leave the way's of the
past in the past

if people want to come on this thread and talk about there own fishing its up to them its not up to you our me to talk about what other people have "caught" if they want it kept to themself's you should leave it like that . if the bloke who caught the 31 wanted people to know am quite sure he would find way's of letting people know .

as for getting map's and looking for lake's you are talking alot of bulls--t
as i know the lake's you have fished there was know map searching to fish the lake's you have fished
as they are known lakes and have been carp lake's for a long time.

map reading for new lake's that have never been steped on that is map reading fishing. not word of mouth fishing which you have done. but you are trying
to put it about it's not word of mouth fishing that you have been doing
its map reading you do make me laugh it is easy to know about the grapevine and keep
it to yourself but it is harder to shear it hotshot we all start some were and get help
dont think for one minute that you did not. the point your trying to get across is floor
less as i have proved to you if people are going to fish lakes they will because they want
to people who chase what's comeing out never stay at the lake and end up going back to
there action water's there use to

see you in april pleb on" mill lake"

If you were on the bank when hotshot was told about this fish, then why did'nt he tell you then?

well that's the winter over and done with on with the spring.
crab was a challange it is not a easy winter water i underestimated crab
due to the amount of fish that i was told about.
and due to its size i thought i would not be far from a carp. but also i was not far from the bream
and tench.also alot of fish were not feeding and were they were feeding was not wide spread
i learnt a lot at crab and enjoyed it . just like to say thank's to ANT and the local's for makeing
me feel welcome i did manage one fish a 16lb common in the winter and a 24lb mirror in beginning
of autum.

so what's happening in the spring for jdb well i am going to be fishing a local water and a out of region water. the local water am going to be fishing, i had a day session on today and blanked. but i live in hope i have been informed that there has not been a fish off since the middle of feb and the fish have moved out of the area bit of a clue that yes i am going to be routeing for that first carp over twenty from a merseyside
canal am going to be trying to do this at the widnes canal at spike island i will be doing single night's and day session's there between march and june

the lake i am going to be fishing out of my region will be called "mill lake"
to respect the local angler's of the region i am fishing in mill lake is not a small lake
and i dont know when the last fish was caught. mill lake is a very hard lake and
has so many uncaught fish story's basically i am fishing for dream's and the dream's
will be between april and june

o before i go i would just like to let you know that hotshot and stez will be assisting
me on ECHO duties and helping me spread the message so please if you know hotshot
our stez dont hesitate to approach them as i can not be everywhere my number is at the
front of this thread if you want to talk to me my phone is open to everyone anyway tight lines
and hope you enjoy your fishing were ever you are

Hi guys
Like I've said to Joe, my time to help with NW ECHO issues, is basically non-existant, due to work, fishing commitments etc.
Also I have only just got round to joing ECHO, and am still green on the info side of things.
But if anyone wants to get in touch with Joe to speak to him about ECHO issues, I will happily give you his mobile no. if you dont know him, and i'll be happy to have a chat with you.

Fished Canal-lake - blanked.

Had a 20lb Common out of a very unfished tough Norfolk water on Friday though; quite proud of that.

The missus had, get this, 3 bream, but, a 7.5 lb, an 8lb and a 10lb. 25.5lb of bream in 3 fish, thats some going.....

No carp for her though!

I payed a visit to a fairly local syndicate for the first time since September, and extracted 5 fish in a night from a swim a guy had just finished a 4 night blank in, 13,16 and 3x18's stayed on Sunday night and had two more 16 and 17. Just found out that apart from the odd small stock fish nowts been out for nearly 8 weeks, so well chuffed. Just the bit if encouragement I needed to start going regularly again. Off for some serious fishing this weekend.

I notice the Stoke brigade have invaded Astbury. Most bivvies I`ve ever seen on there on Saturday....plus I see the fishing location rules have changed....unless someone was winging it; they were fishing next to the diving school which was out of bounds previously....used to be a good sanctury for the carp that....now its been removed from them, shame that; I watched that as a good spawning ground in years gone by; I think that should be honoured and give them a place to breed safely - any Stoke officials reading - take note. I`ve seen this lake for years - lets keep the carp happy in there; last thing they need is a known breeding ground/safe haven destroyed by some 15 year old with a 4 quid spod and dads waders.

Had a good weekend myself managing a pasty and a mid double from Boundry. The place was like bivvy city. Single hookbaits on the chuck did the trick. well all the people blanking over beds of bait it was obvious they weren't really feeding. had them within half an hour as well. Only three other fish came out over the weekend biggest 18lb. they to came on singles. I like the waterbut ill probebly leave it untill june 16th when it starts to calm down.

done my first trip on mill lake at the weekend sat eve to mon morning and very excited i was two
no fish were seen only the odd roach bream but i am looking forward to fishing this lake.
i am also so starting to think there are monkey's at mill lake as every time i go back to my
car my window wiper's have been lifted mmmmmm .

all so done my first night session on the widnes canal and i have done that first canal twenty in the shape of a 21lb common i am one happy bloke as i want to do a twenty of the canal last year in six night's
but failed due my "mate" getting in my swim on my sixth night and he had a twenty. i am still going back to
the widnes canal untill june as i think are canal's are be comeing awesome place's to fish, the fish size is riseing so much i remember the day's of struggling for a 15lb plus know there throwing regular twenty's
i have no problem's with saying this it will not be long before are canal's will be throwing regular 25 to 30 plus carp anyway enjoy your fishing were ever you chose tight lines

I saw them two, they were in the Armadillo`s weren`t they? Did a session from Thursday? I seem to remember hearing they had a low double on the Thursday.

4-5 fish, thats not bad - I saw the guy get the 16 mirror.
The two blokes on the point, I seem to remember one have one of those really nice pods, centre tripod affair (arma...alpha.....something or other) very nice piece of kit.

Yea his pod is Amaid peche he gets some stick over that I can tell you. Like "hey paul someones put scaffold in your swim" or "what the f*ck's THAT has there been a car crash"

"you can weigh that in for scrap when you need new rods"

now then lads was out at the weekend on mill lake done a blank but done alot off swim locating
for the future it is a proper marathon mill lake and it is very exiting doing the planning for mill lake

i am going to be doing alot of camping on this lake as there is not alot of fish spotting on this lake at all.
there is a lot of planning to be done on this lake as every swim is different rangeing from different depth's to a lot of under water snag's. and the deep silt is very scary as it is every where but no bloodworm has been located yet which i think will be part of the jigshaw. anyway i will keep my finger's cross and shoe lacer's

also been down to the widnes canal for a single night but managed to do my first over night blank
well you can not catch them all the time.

i think they were probley knocked off the feed
by those biting east wind's it was a very cold single night session they were there moveing up and down the canal. but probley will have a good feed in the day when it get's a bit warmer. well i hope that's right but i think i have had my luck on there and now it's pay back time. anyway that's my report's talk to ye all soon
enjoy ye fishing where ever ye chose to go
