I am looking for recommendations for good carp venues within a 30/40 mile radius of Alton Towers. I am dropping my stepson off for a few days of white knuckle rides and am looking to get a couple of days / nights fishing in. I am relatively new to carp fishing (although 25yrs angling experience) and am seeking 1st twenty (best to date 18.5lb last week). Any suggestions / help....

How far away is that from Sandbach services on the M6.

I know of a water that is on a country/farm type park, cats n carp 2 lakes, both nice. It aint far away from sandbach.....

But my geography is a bit crap.......

Catton Park isn't far away, its about halfway between Burton and Lichfield. There are a few twenties but alot of upper doubles.

There are a couple of waters quite close to Alton Towers.
One is Pool House Farm, Hunts Green Tamworth. Small one acre pool bookable on day ticket. Quite prolific for doubles. Tel: 01827 874856 for full information. Don't know if night fishing is allowed didn't used to be.
Pretty Pigs fishery, Shuttington near Tamworth. 40 acre lake. Lots of carp some good ones. Pub (Pretty Pigs) on lake! Day ticket stretch runs from pub downwards. Birchmoor Angling Club . Tel: Peter Mason c/o Game Cock Inn pub for info. 01827 59783.
Famous Cuttle Mill is not too far away. No night fishing but owner Tony, allows people to sleep in the barn between days by arrangement.
Lots of 20's and 30's. Tel: Tony Higgins on 01827 872253. Not a cheap day ticket but very big fish can be quite easily caught.
