I was wondering what has been found to be the best floating bait.

I use the Sainsburys cheap bread as it is more tacky than most.

Has anyone tried flavouring bread, if so what has given the best results.

Mixers, and lots of them...Try different types, as some go a bit soft and fall off the hook. Go to an animal feed place and look for the greyhound mixers, these are brown in colour and come in massive sacks for a tenner.

Look at the cat biscuits as well, the IAMS ones are really smelly and the carp love them.

Floating trout/Koi pellets...Just like using hemp on the surface, the carp hoover them off the top.

Suggest that feeding the small biscuits or pellets, and fishing a mixer, bread, or a small popup on a hair is a winner.

Good Luck.

Floater cake, excellent bait, any 50/50 mix, my best results have been on pineapple. If you dont catch anything you can always eat it (taste better than mixers)

Mixers are the best for floaters but try cheesy watsits for a change i used them a while ago and had great results with them.

Thanks to Candyman, Andyd, Bivyman and Pete B

You have all given me something to think about.

I will try some of the things mentioned when the carp are taking it from the top.

They have been slow to start feeding from the surface this year due to the very cold conditions we have been having this year.

The forcast for the weekend sounds like it might trigger them into action.

Thanks again

Rockyfox

Those baby marsh mallows are good too they stay on your hook for ages.
And if the carp don't want them eat them your self. mmmmmmm
