I have just been reading about the beachcaster rig and one of the pieces says that it was worked out on a computer program that the float stop part of the rig should be set at twice the depth of the swim plus two foot four inches.

I havent had time to try this yet but apparently it is correct. The only other problem you would have is keeping the rod high enough as there is only a range problem because the further you cast out the higher you must have the rod for the rig to work.

Not a problem Andy. Get yourself an elastic band, extending bank stick, and a john roberts butt grip.

Screw butt grip into top of Bankstick and slide the elastic band below it so that it is on the stick.

Chuck out said beechcaster rig and then sit your reel strut into the grip so that your rod is vertical. Get your elastic band and then slide it over the butt of your rod. This will keep your rod vertical.

No problems.

I tend to do depth of swim plus around 7 nose to finger tip lengths then adjust accordingly sliding my stop knot up or down.
