Would anyone give me a straight answer to this question ?
Is the new Titan Viper a load of sh*t? I have recenlty sold my old Titan and had every intention of buying a new Viper but have been told my many people that even the new Viper leaks like a sieve and to look elsewhere for a replacement.
My old Titan had a leakage problem so I went out and bought an extreme canopy which cured it. I cannot afford to go out and spend £330 for the Viper and another £195 for a canopy in one hit and I don't think I should have to. Why can't Nashy use a better quality material that is 100% waterproof and condensation proof ? We do send guys to the moon after all, surely the technology is out there, somewhere !!!!! any comments would be appreciated

I have thanks, but I am still undecided as to what to go for.

if it`s a 2 man bivvy that you want go for a powerplus
twin skinned,alloy poles(as std),very heavy duty construction,lifetime guarentee,and very spacious.
These bivvys may be heavy and expensive but who cares when you can be comfortable (and dry on the bank lol)
£345+£12p+p well worth it in my opinion

I have been using the Viper - the breathable skin version - for two seasons now and cannot fault it.
It is easy to erect (oo, er, missus!) stable,
flexible, does not leak etc...An awesome piece of kit and the best bivvy I have ever had. There is a review of it in the review section here. I use the Winter Skin in winter. Three of my friends who have one - Julian Cundiff, Tim Paisley and Alan Young all swear by them.
I've read the complaints, but I don't believe them - people not following instructions I believe is the problem. I put three tiny puncture holes in mine - which was my fault entirely and it barely leaks through these in an absolute storm. I've never heard of one leaking 'naturally' - if it does simply send it back and receive a replacement.
Nashy's repair/warranty service has improved 100%.
I would not hesitate to buy one.

I agree with Paul with regards to the Viper. I have only had 2 problems with it and they entailed broken legs which Nash sorted out straight away.

The broken legs were not down to user error but faulty spigot joints which Nash acknowledged as part of a faulty batch from the start of 1999 ( which was when I ordered mine from them)

I have suffered no major condensation problems with it and I haven't got the breathable version or a winter skin/canopy.

Like Paul says, when they are up they are rock solid.

I brought the new viper, condensation drips in like crazy, I still think it is excellent, but wish I had known that they dont automaticly come made out of the new breathable stuff, I have got to fork out for the winter skin now. If you get one make sure its the right material

Hi Blanker

Thanks for your comments on your Viper and you may have guessed that I have long since gone against the idea of buying one.

The new Viper is made from Slippery Eel (apparently waterproof, Ha! Ha!) as the original one was made of old tea bags and as you can know leaks like hell.

I know it is a little late now that you have bought a Viper but I would think about getting rid of it and buying the new Spider Bivvy as that is what I am about to do.

Check out the site below and tell me if you think this is the best alternative to the Viper.

Take care old boy and tight lines !!!!

Regards

Bob

Bob 32 or whoever you are you have taken the **** here, mate.
The terms under which you post and which you agreed to do not allow solicitations or the posting of commercial URL's.
That is why I have edited your post.
You might be too thick to notice that there already is a very supportive link to the company you are touting for.
I will speak to the said owner of the company tomorrow (Paul). If you are acting on his behalf - I will remove his link immediately and Gareth's review of the Spider Bivvy which is featured here and then circulate other angling Webmasters.
You gave the game away, mate, when you didn't thank Darren and myself - because we gave opinions you didn't want to hear.
Go somewhere else.
I will contact Paul in the morning.
