Very worrying to see the news item regarding fish deaths at Fenemere. In light of the article in the May addition of Carp Fisher, it would be interesting to know if there have been any recent stockings. It is vital that we are kept aware of developments. It would be tragic indeed if this vile infection were to spread through the rest of this Carp-rich County. Any link with Acton?

There have been no stockings of any type at Fenemere. The EA have put it down to Spring Mortality Syndrome, but this usually follows a stocking. Members have told us that the bottom of the lake is a greeny-blue colour which is not normal. Another theory is that it may have been caused by agricultural pollutants from the adjoining farmland. Whatever the cause it is certainly tragic. There is no connection with Acton which is some miles away and no one from there fishes the water. There would be a murder if anyone did, as Rob Hales tried to pinch Fenemere away from the controlling club!
As you might know, The Mangrove is only 200 yards away from Fenemere, and the events have caused us great concern. We've lost a handful of doubles in the Mangrove only, which is probably natural. Fortunately, the stream between the two runs from the Mangrove to Fenemere.
