Hmmm, one good one I used once and it served me well for the seasons that I used it was, I will no doubt get some stick for this. Hooklink details: Two lengths of three 3lb BS line about 10 to 12 inches, size ten hook, half inch hair made from 1 lb BS line. If you try the above and believe me it does work PLEASE only use in open water no snags. Chris S

As for mono, well i know it works for some but some of the rigs i`ve seen tied up do look more at home for beachcasting than carping.[This message has been edited by Kevin Babij (edited 24-06-2000).]
If the nylon rigs you have seen tied look more at home for beach casting then who ever made them must be making them wrong, I have caught far more carp on bottom baits on nylon than braid, the only times I have used braid to any great extent was/is for popups but only becuase it gave the presentation that I wanted, if it had`nt then I would have used nylon. I tell you a little story about braid and nylon, many years ago when braid was first used for hooklengths I was fishing a club water that I belonged to at the time where you could go and catch carp with not many problems but you could blank there. I used braided hooklengths there on several occasions and caught bugger all. Then one day whilst sitting blanking in came one rod and I cut of the braided hooklength and tied on a nylon one, the next fews hours I started getting runs again but only on the nylon. Another story of similar nature I found the carp on one of the London res`s and they stayed in the same spot feeding for a week I went back everyday and caught carp everday, another couple of chaps also got onto the fish but could not get the runs that I was getting. This was one of the waters where I fished the hooklength described above in the other post, yup have you guessed it they where using braided hooklengths. I have no explanation for this only in the fact that the nylon I suppose could make it more difficult for the fish to get rid of but it was only two lengths of 3lb BS line and very supple with a size ten hook. Chris S, Last issue of Carp Fisher or was it Advanced Carp Fishing showed a hinged mono set up with more rings on it than a gipsy fortune teller! The rig that has done the business for you i think is about as supple as you will come across for mono rigs,i was really thinking of the 15-20lb stiff set-ups in my earlier reply which i`ve struggled with locally. Incidentally in the past Hawser, superglue, polycement and more recently Kryston`s Bondage have been successfully used with braid from the swivel upto 10-25mm from the hook with both bottom & pop-ups. It`s that last little bit of suppleness in the hooklength that attracts me (and the odd fish). This topic has set my mind thinking back to when multistrand came out and how successful it was for many who could be bothered with it,both on it`s own and as combilinks with silkworm/dacron/cortland,looks like we have come full circle again on some waters. After reading about fluorocarbon lines on C**p.Net, I bought a spool of 15lb b.s. Invisiline, (I couldn't find any Vanish), to try on hook lengths. Like others, I found the memory to be a real problem, in fact it is almost impossible to eradicate the coils caused by the spool. It is also very stiff, and being a bit of a killjoy, I have great problems with the purported mechanical advantages of stiff rigs anyway. I have also been reading new concerns about the persistence of fluorocarbons in the environment, and how they are already being measured in human tissue. I'm not suggesting that this presents any realistic chance of personal damage, unless you eat great quantities of the stuff. It might make you invisible in water though.
