Baitboats:- a means of presenting a rig/bait to an area previously out of bounds to all anglers fishing the traditional way,or another interpretation,a means of fishing for otherwise totally crap anglers unable to catch by the more traditional methods. Bait boats should be banned nationally on all waters, if you want a boat to play with then go and join your local model boat club.

Here we go again, same old chesnut, same old arguments. the fact of the matter is, people have used boats for fishing, for as long as there have been boats, which is probably longer than they have used rods! as tecnology changes so do the methods used to catch fish, the hair rig, bite alarms, bait runners, bed chairs, bivvys etc. of course we could all live in the past with none of the new? technology but who really wants that? so live and let live. life is to short for all the bickering. Spring will be here soon, the carps will be on the munch, just get out there and enjoy what you do, and don't worry about what others are doing. That is why they call it fishing, if you caught all the time it would be called catching

Common sense and discretion go a long way. Unfortunately many of the lads I see fishing left that quality in the garage. If you can cast their then by all means use a boat. You can spod it (Noisey), yes I know some fish are attracted to it,but not at my local, but if bait boats were £5 each, every tom, dick and harry would have one. Well maybe!

If the bait boat isn't going in your swim I don't see why it would bother you.As for taking the bait 300 yds to the safe area, after time this area won't be safe no more.

I dont really have a problem with bait boats as long as they used safely, sensibly and dont annoy others fishing. Theres a mere Ive fished in Cheshire which has basically turned into a boat water in the last 12 months ,nothing has been caught from a casted lead since October, things will change again and they come out closer in again, but until then, what do you do? - when in rome!!! I heard also someone is hiring boats out on this place £3 a day - nice little earner if you ask me!! cheers STEZ

A LATE COMMENT ON YOUR BAIT BOAT QUESTION.IAM CURRENTLY FISHING A WATER WERE BAIT BOATS ARE THE NORM THE LAKE IS APPROX 25 ACRES AND 250YRDS WIDE MOST BAIT GOING OUT 150 TO 200 YRDS IN OPEN WATER.WITH SOME GOOD FISH COMMING TO THIS APPROACH MY IDEA WAS TO BAIT UP CLOSE IN AND DO THE OPPOSITE TO THE NORM.RESULTS SO FAR ARE MIRROR CARP OF 29LB/17LB AND 37LB 8OZ TO MY FISHING MATE. AND I ALSO USE A BAIT BOAT FOR DISTANCE WORK BUT TO DATE HAVE HAD ON FISH USING IT ON THIS LAKE BUT FIND IT INVALUBLE FOR BAITING UP.
AS FOR USING THE TRADITIONAL APPROACH I LOOK FOWARD TO SEEING YOU ON THE BANK USING YOUR SPLIT CANE RODS AND WASHING UP BOTTLE TOPS FOR INDICATORS. SEE YA SOON WOOLF BOY.
