Does anybody have any news on Kingsmead Island Lake and how it's fishing this year?

I haven't fished there but know someone who is.
He said is is very hard going with a few carpers catching some of the 40 odd escaped stockies from the Lake One.
Best wait for Ian to answer he'll give you a better answer.

A couple of originals out to upper 20's but at present all that is being caught are the escapees from Lake 1. The Island Lake regulars have caught and returned 18 or so in the past couple of weeks and are currently working on the rest !

Sorry lads, I know it's a pain.

The big fish have been spotted regularly and it would really be nice to see one of them on the bank this year. As you know we are talking previously uncaught English 40's and 50's here and a lot of the very best anglers in the country have tried and failed to put them on the bank, only time will tell if they are catchable.

There are certainly two fish which look to be well over 50lb., another, a common, not far short. Whether they would make 56 - 60lb. I don't know.

The regulars will have a far better idea of the size of them than I. I have seen Mary enough times to know what a 55lb. fish looks like and in Kingsmead we are certainly talking about fish in the same league.

Get over there catch one and let me know !
