Hi lads

whith a lot of nutmix/boilies on the market nowadays, whats the nutritional value of nutmeals compared to fishmeals? I've been offered a good supply of nutmix boilies for next year at a very good price , but i don't want to compromise that with less nutrition for the fish was always under the impression they got no goodness out of nuts? The pool im fishing has a lot of new stocky's and want to give them the better quality baits for better growth rates and weight gains ..

thanks tim thumbsup

Fishmeals are animal protein so easily digested by carp, where as nutmeal is vegetable protein so far less digestible, so there is no contest as far as carpy ingredients go...however a couple of ounces of nutmeal in a food bait mix wont do it any harm... thumbsup

I can't get my head around the nut mixes. Nuts on their own yes, but not in a mix. It seems to me that those having success on the mixes are catching inspite of the nuts, not because of them and because carp are inquisitive pick the baits up to inspect them.

Stick with fishmeals.Like Paul said, they are far more digestible than a nut mix and more quickly digested. The speed of digestion of a food item is so important to us anglers as a bait that is slowly digested (such as some veg proteins) can mean a carp will not return to feed for perhaps 24hrs after eating them whereas a good fishmeal can be digested in around 6hrs. Result is healthier carp that are back on the feed far more quickly.
