Yep totally agree, its gone from bad to worse in recent years.
As a bit of an experiment I have not used any boilies or manufactured bait ie pellets etc over the past 12 months. While not setting the world on fire I have held my own. Yes people have caught more than me, but I am up there perhaps in the top 10%. Lets put it this way, by far the biggest majority are either blanking or have caught less.

Its just the sort of water where other factors are far more important than bait quality. The water is fairly large, stock is low and the smaller fish and bird population so high that it would probably take you years to get enough bait through to the fish to get it established.
You would not believe the amount of people who turn up, spod for england, lash out a choddy and think thats the way to fish for a mostly fragmented stock of less than 1 1/2 fish per acre.
May work on a over populated hungry water thats ideal for filming a dvd or tv program however, back in the real world of the frozen north?
