truly shocking .
taken from another site .

Confirmed directly from people who found the BM and those currently on scene helping out.

Sad day, not just the BM .... looks like every single swimming thing in the lake MAY dead. From fry to the big carp ... record sized eels and tench included.
The BM was buried before the EA was contacted. The big common was bigger than the BM. Dead fish bleeding profusely. Pictures taken, so these may well surface around the net.

JUST SUPSIPICION FOR NOW but it has look iffy i.e. poisoning

Fish bleeding from gills?!

Thousands of dead snails in the edge.

Certainly doesn't sound like an oxygen collapse. Sounds like acute pollution unfortunately.

Definately sounds like pollution. We had a kill on a local urban lake a couple of years ago where most of 2 years fry were killed after seeking shelter in a storm drain. The fish had obvious chemical burns on theor eyes, gills and fins. Of course the Council didn't admit that it was responsible when the leisure centre up the road (where the drain leads from)was being demolished and at least one person saw liquid from that area entering the drain

Thanks Warren - all the classic elements that can cause an algae crash it seems were present.... wall....ironically if the water had been run as a fishery the death of all the lake life could maybe have been prevented..... upset

I force myself out of bed every time there is a thunderstorm in the night to ensure my Force 7 aerators are on and running....... crazy

I can't see the urban tree huggers that have the power to designate SSSI's and prevent fishing doing that...... BoomSmilie_anim
