Hello everybody been away from the forum for a few years, so long in fact i had forgotten my login info etc. Similarly away from fishing but fortunately have dusted off the NG's and started to fish once more.
For my floater fishing I have been using an old avon 1.25 11ft rod which is great fun but on at least one water I successfully surface fish the fish tend to move out further into the lake which I feel requires a 12ft road with just a bit more backbone especially for picking up the line on the initial take plus my 10 year old seem to have laid claim to this rod.
Looking for the first time in a long time at the tackle websites it seems that a lot of the manufacturers no longer do 1.75lb - 2lb choices.
I do have some old Diawa 1.75lb carprods which are ringed in a more "traditional" way ie more rings etc but do need re-whipping. which might fit the bill. My other choice seems to be a barbel rod of some shape size or variety.
all suggestions greatfully received

Pete

My old 1.75lb Daiwa pro-carbon carp rod is spot on for floater fishing on the rare occasion I get to use one. I wouldn't even bother looking for another rod unless I broke it, then it would be a 1.75lb Avon type specialist rod as they have just the right action for freelining soft baits without ripping the hook out on the cast.
