Had a walk around goldendale today not been on there for ages, wished i hadn't now. The first thing i came across was 4 asylum seeker type blokes, all of them using big rods, reels and line like rope, not a landing net in sight.
When i tried to put them right they all just shrugged their shoulders and smiled, making out they spoke no english as i approached the last one a decent size carp leapt out of the water behind him and landed with a huge splash. Now,i saw the fish but he didn't but as he turned and looked at the bow wave he turned back to me and in his suddenly improved english he said "big carps ehhm" as he rubbed his stomach.
I told him and showed him in my best sign language that if he was caught taking fish out of there he would get filled in at which point he just laughed,i made it clear that i was serious and carried on walking. The next thing i came across is what i would describe as a bunch of chavs, again all fishing for carp, some using, believe it or not spinners and all of them were asking questions about the common, how big was it now, whats the best bait blah blah blah. I was disgusted at the state of the place in general, and the absolute dicks that are now pursuing that lovely fish, and now that the foriegn brigade know about the fish in there i'm affraid its just a matter of time before it ends up as a fish curry,we all know the problems asylum seekers have caused all over the country, and those bastards certainly weren't fishing for sport, they were fishing for dinner. I have never advocated moving fish from waters but on this occasion i think that it would be the best form of action for these fish, not just the common all of them.
I caught the common at 34:12 about 5 or so yrs ago and have not fished for it since and had no intention of doing so until today,i have heard various rumours of people that intend removing the common if they catch it,frankly i hope they do. I know there are certain health risks involved in moving fish from one water to another, but surely these risks are worth taking to save these fish from the table.
Maybe a syndicate or club even could carry out a proper netting, even if the poles don't catch it,what about all these chavvy kids that are trying to put spinners across there backs,i hope something is done before its to late.
I would appreciate other peoples views on this matter,as long as you don't come on and start to slate me,as i said the removal of these fish would be the last thing i would normally sugest but there can't be someone on there 24/7 and it only takes minutes to foul hook the fish and have it away,i know how well its done in there, and its growth potential,if left alone, but i truely feel that is not going to happen and it will be lost forever.
