just fitted another depth finder to my baitboat, picked up this boat about five years ago for around 40 quid, badger dynacraft and was sunk, had it working with a smartcast but decided to give it a new overall, new radio gear with half mile range..new speed controller, new motor, battery warning equipment and another finder...managed 90 yards with the rf10 green american version and that attaches via a normal tv socket but awaiting a few things to further its range, decided to also fit another type depthfinder on english frequency due to the ease of gaining gain antennas for better range...also further modification is an external servo for the hopper, which the original was internal and used a cable to open the hopper which cut into the plastic with time leaving water ingress to which sunk it on the last fella...sorted
the finder now fitted is 50yards from the off without antennas fitted..distance will be dertermined soon..batts are interchangable on this thumbsup
boat now runs approx 2nhalf hours with better speed and straight steering..ten minutes alls sorted and attach solar panel and fully charged again in less than an hour..even in winter

this is the rf10`s sonar fited to it with seperate batt box etc

Try one of these babies on the transmitter side for easy 200+ yards. thumbsup

They are a bit long but flexible so its not too bad, they do work very well though. You can get them with either bnc or sma connectors. I got the bnc and a sma converter simply because I like the quick relese of the bnc.

Yip andy thats the english version with a gain antenna for 433mhz...try getting one for 315mhz the american version..even japs wont risk posting one!!!

Good news with the adapted yellow depthfinder in the first post, results are and witnessed by two bailiffs..one the head bailiff...it easily reached 280 yards and before someone shouts ..How do you know?.......first sent it out over my furthest swim to see if any depth alterations...first rod 40 yards out..7n1/2 foot..bob on.
2nd rod another 20`sh yards out 13 foot and a sudden drop from 11..that`ll do for my 2nd.
3rd rod 75 yards out ,approx half way-16.5 foot-..148 yards right across-google earthed previous!
left boat to float about whilst i casted my rods using the boat as a marker.
Once all set and a few gatfulls of boilies laid, thought i`d have a play...furthest bank...148 yards and reading bob on.
bailiff came and checked my permit and he was heading for the hut..furtest point from me,so i asked him if he would take my consul and see if it`d still work from there as my batt was getting low now..he did and i could see his thumbs up from the cabin whilst the boat was playing around in my margin..spot on and he filled me in with all the goings on when he had a brew and walked back my way..thats 190 yards google earthed!
Later on i was thinking, wish i`d tried the full length of the lake now, when another bailiff turned up to see my permit and i told him what steve had done for me and he said, why not try it now..so off we went...found an hole with a 6 foot ledge in 27 ft of water near a margin at the dam wall..left the boat there and walked to the other end..broke up whilst going through trees but back in line of site..full signal retrieved ...lovely...283 yards and i recon it`d gone another 100 ..easy!
RESULT!!! beer

Wahoo!! my bits have arrived for the rf10 to be adapted as like the first above thread type one..the one that does over 287 yards..and that was with just normal 433mhz replacement antennas for motorola two way radios on 433mhz and no gain antennas were required in that set-up..antennas were 2.00 each from H>KONG...And so managed to get hold of the same in 315mhz..will sort that soon too..the rf10 will have a better sound quality and slightly louder fish alarm..cant wait till i wake up tomoz, buzzing!!!
will let you know how that fairs in comp with the long distance one i made earlier!

whooops forgot also,am in the middle of making a long distant marker float with the egg adapted inside it , to go with the one that goes 287 yards..let you know how that goes..for waters where boats aint aloud

Full vid of test coming tomoz...keep thy eyes peeled thumbsup

two part short vid..not sure what relevance the 2nd vid is apart that the boat is that far away that the driver cant see it to steer and operate it correctly...but it does show the finder still operating 180 yardish distance..tried to put bino`s over camera lens to see if it would show up on camera but too much glare off the sun...result is the fellas over the moon, as it is beyond any distance that he`d ever fish..bob on!!! thumbsup

just done another for a mate and in the middle of doing another for another mate..this one will fit in a cradle which velcros to the back of his boat..hopefully a short better vid will be done soon inbetter light conditions on the distances this can cope with..done 287 yards upto now with the boosted conversion and still four bars on the reception signal..also,managed with this one to source the receiver socket that equates to the aerial plug on this one as to the first one pictured..results coming soon thumbsup

my mates and their m8`s and their mates m8`s are buzzing withthis conversion and the accuracy at great distances which i reckon would be useful adapted in a marker float for overseas fishing etc where waters are vast and time is limited..so thats the next challenge..marker float coming soon thumbsup

just done another and another to do in a minute and a few more later on today to do if parts turn up in time for a fellas french trip...
coming along nicely and getting better with every coversion..

WARNING B4 PARTING WITH YOUR HARD EARNED!!

Thought its about time to update this thread, seems theres people jumping on the bandwagon and with me doing these for over a year, thought i`d give my reasons for no longer using this product..this is my findings and of people who`ve used them out in the proper conditions.Course dont let this put you off buying one cheap before they`ve been converted and having a go at building one yourself..it may be very rewarding personally but not at the converted price knocking about.

Findings!
2 out of 3 faulty from the off from the manufacturers, others constantly have problems not with the electronics which are spot on but with the build of both units which inevitably affect the electronics after time..the sonars condensate.. then obviously corode with time..first signs is battery drain lifespan being shortened and flutuating incorrect depth readings... The handsets have build faults too!battery removing area tight leaving people tapping the batts out...and pressurising the power button leads to circuit and attachments lifting off the board...How do i know you this you may ask...experience thats how..i`m not someone who`s jumped on the band wagon but someone who has been converting these eggs and sonars for range for over a year...i also know that some are jumping on the wagon after seeing mine and seeing the power these from how they operate! I have done approx 50 of these in my time..i know the faults which new sellers are about to experience and i can assure you before you part with the hard earned dollar that only me has the solutions..so be very careful out there folks!!!
