We're going over there the third week of april. We know it's not the most difficult water on the Goncourt complex, but it should be a lot of fun. Has anyone ever fished this lake?

Hi Henk, I fished woods in Sepetmebr last year, sport was hectic to say the least . Most of the fish came from the area of the lake that backs onto Pascales house.
Loads of small commons =and grassies can get frustrating, but there plenty of 20 lb plus fish in their, a dutch guy had the lake record while we was there (hust over 40lb ish), some large cats in there as well.

Andy,

Thanks for your reply. Do you have any tips on rigs and baits or is it all pretty straight forward?

I doubt if rigs or bait make much difference to the carp to be honest, probably more location and avoiding the small grassies and commons, I was fishing double 18mm baits on snakebite hooklinks

from a location perspective, if you face the lake from the showers, to the left (large double swim) was good during the day, but very few fish at night, to the right fish all night but nothing during the day, if you do fish to the left, make sure you can get a bait towards the far margin (about 150-200 yds)and take lots of batteries for outboards or bait boats.

For the cats livebaits are the way forward, large pellets were getting wittled down in a couple of hours.

Andyd,

We did ok even with temp's at night below zero. 50 carp up to 15+kg and four catfish. Very easy water due to the competition between the cats and the carp. Fished only during daytime.

gr. Henk
