We had fire in the garage last weekend, which resulted in all of my fishing tackle going up in smoke. I've been told that my insurer (Coventry) are likely to offer a replacement from one of the big tackle shop (Fosters seem likely) but they will offer alternatives – say Shimano rods rather than my free spirits, etc. Is this something that I’m going to have to accept or are there ways of fighting it?

Any advice or others experiences would be appreciated.

They should replace items like for like, had 2 insurance claims over the years. If they dont sell for instance free spirit BUT THEY CAN SOURCE THEM ELSEWHERE might mean you wait a bit longer for them... they should and would offer a replacement to the value of the free spirit if you lose a 200 quid rod it should be replaced with a 200 quid rod if they offer you say 100 pound rods, Tell them to fook right off .The quote that say fosters gives to your insurance company will be the full rrp for example says the free spirit rods are 180 they will quote the rrp price wich is more likely to be say 225 per rod I DEALT WITH FOSTERS BOTH CLAIMS AND THEY WERE GREAT..So you shouldnt have any problems PM Me if you need a bit more advice i am an insurance claim expert
