Alright,
Anyone ever fished the Park for carp, I know that fishing is allowed and that there are carp knocking about...no doubt it's a mad place but I wondered if anyone had given it a go?

Cheers..

Not fished there, but seem fish there, firstly in 'the pond' in the south east corner of the park, this is the scenic lake featured in films, with little bridge over it (remember Home Alone 2??) .. lovely spot but doubt they will allow fishing as big tourist spot.. looked like small commons / koi around 7-10lb.. few terrapins also.

Bigger fish were seen in what I think is called the 'Turtle Pond' from memory half way up the park. There were some bigger fish here cruising and sunbathing, looked like Grassy's to me, defo bigger though at least mid doubles, this was 2004 mindm so a lot could have happened since. You plan to have a go?

We're planning to go to New York at some point but not for a fishing trip though, I just thought it would be a mad thing to dangle a line while there...it'll probably come to nothing but you never know, the thought of fishing is always with me wherever I go blush

Thanks for the bit of info, cheers.

Went to NY about 20 years ago. Rowed the old lady around in a boat in the lake in Central Park. If you were to pack a short tele rod and a few bits in a small bag you could probably have a sly dangle without been caught.

Also, several years ago in Pike and Predators magazine, Neville Fickling mentioned that while he was in NY he wanted to have a little dabble for Pickerel in the Central Park lake, but that to fish there you had to rent the gear from them and all they had was cane poles with no reels.

All of the above info is both old and from memory.
