this is a question for the bait guru`s or fish biologists really but if anyones picked up any info up on the net..could you share it with me...

I know its been mentioned alot about tigers doing nothing for fish nutritionally but what about the flour or crushed..i presume myself that the fishes gut does not have the capability to break em down in the first place but what if its all ready broken down..can they utilise anything from the powder/crushed in the forms of groundbaits and if so how much???

any help much appreciated thumbsup

oh and just one more.. can another substance as in a bait ingredient be used to help the fish digest and utilise any properties and which if any would you suggest for use with groundbaits..thanks again

Nutritionally (protein wise) they offer very little, but there is some energy source there in the form of Carbohydrates & Lipids within the make up of Growlers, it has been said before that due to the natural sugars within the bait that certain Bacteria may feed upon this, and that in turn maybe of benefit to the fish.

What are you trying to achieve with the tigernuts/flour/bits? Just curious m8.

a devastating instant attractant g.bait cal that once induced in massive doses in one swim on a gigantic lake will drag the little fish per acre across to where i am fishing if along way away from the majority in another..and mainly to try and keep sommat down in the way of the signals away from the tufties upset..i know tufties will still eat the g.bait but they will be forever diving on the amounts i`m talking about.

Tigernut flour brings about the same as cornmeal to a bait, tigers themselves are taken for differing reasons... thumbsup

I would imagine tiger nut meal would be practically undigestible to a carp, being vegetable protein....and of no nutritional value....wink

Tiger nuts themselves give off fatty acids which is why they work, which promises food, but doesn't deliver....wink

RAW TIGERNUTS ANALYSIS:

Analysis:
23.56 % Fats (oils)
21.23 % Sugars
24.13 % Dietary Fiber
26.54 % Starch
4.15 % Proteins
400 kcal /100 Energy
4.77 % Humidity

Minerals
Mg: 1070 mg/Kg.
Na: 206 mg/Kg.
K: 7100 mg/Kg.
P: 2557 mg/Kg.
Ca: 179 mg/Kg.

There you go Timber, As already said a useful energy source but low on protein (Although I'm sure I read somewhere that it's a good source of the essential amino acid Lysine?)

Fairly high in Sugar and Starch though and to be honest I don't know if that is relevant or not but do remember Miasma posting some really interesting stuff on Carp and Sugars. Perhaps he'll refresh our memories on it, perhaps he won't.

In terms of 'pulling power' I'll agree with Pete but if I had to explore one angle it would be to find a substance that triggers a Carp to investigate that is able to be distributed, one way or another over a wide area.
