It gets better.....

Regular visitor to Etangs De Breton, Nigel Butler, has had an incredible catch of five catfish – including two 100lb plus fish - in a single night from Birch Lake this week. Nigel landed cats of 22lbs, 26lbs, 43lbs, 100lbs and 120lbs! The 120lb cat was a new personal best and new lake record for Birch which equals the complex record recently set with another 120lb Wels from Poplars Lake!

Caught by design, Paul, or on a carp set-up ?

Carp set-up as are most stillwater cats nowadays.....

Too true Paul...happens a lot at Linford....but works the other
way as well....carp on dead baits...go figure....

I wonder if that would have happened anyway i.e. just taking advantage of a convenient food source, or have we weaned them onto fish by using the ingredients we do?

Although cats are a true predator, do they not turn to scavenger when in a lake envirornment?

I was thinking more about the Carp taking dead baits rather than the Cats picking up baits intended for Carp.

I think it would have happened instinctively anyway Andy...
