Hello

Having a look at the bait forum has just reminded me to bring up this subject, which I was going to do a while ago.

Concerns primarily particles but anything we use to inject a foreign water supply into a pond we are fishing.

Now I am not regarding disease here but the sense of a foreign, alien area of water surrounding the bait we put in.

Let me explain.

When we prepare particle baits or boil our baits we inherantly but a label on the bait concerning the water supply from our household containing all the great things to keep it clean!

Well surely this must differ imensely from lake water?, and therefore when we put our baits into the lake a foreign waterery environment must surely be created around the baited area for a while.

Similar in our world i think to when someone farts!

Now although the extent of this invasion will be dependent on the amount of bait in the swim, i can't help think it must surely give out an immediate signal that foreign bodies have just entered the water.

Haven't tested out any theories I have to admit, like preparing one set of particles as normal and one with lake water. But was just interested to know what people thought?

Regards

CA

It must really confuse fish when it rains then.

I've thought about this before and eventually decided I don't think it matters. After all the particle is 'foreign' to the water to start with, so what difference if the water is also. I suppose if you found fish only feeding on particles that had been in the lake for some time then it may be an idea, like pre soaking boilies in lake water.

I think this is what Frank Warwick is talking about when he says about taking water home to make bait(see think before you write thread),he only cooks his particles in lake water,as for rain i dont belive it contains Floride!!!

Yeah but the chlorine & fluoride are driven off when it is boiled (and evaporate off when left to stand).
