Ah, alcohol, a legalised drug, same as nicotine, and please, dont post to tell me nicotine and alcohol are not drugs, alcohol is harder to give up than poppy dirivatives, and I talk from personal experiance

Even if your personal experience suggests otherwise, I doubt that very much. That said, I totally accept that at least for some people alcohol can be just as damaging as any drug.

Personally I find it totally non addictive. I enjoy a drink but can go months without a beer and don’t give it a second thought. Doubt I could be so blase, take it or leave it, after a few major binges on poppy derivatives.

then andy,unfortunately i have lost 2 very good mates through alcohol and it aint pretty.

unlike opiates or other class a's,an alcoholics dealer are at every street corner in every town,every restaurant,super market even family gatherings,theres no getting away from it.

its an old cliche but absolutely true,if it was discovered today it would be illeagal,what other mood altering mind bending drug can you nip down the local supermarket and buy.

Ommitted to mention that I watched my mother suffer a protracted illness, cirrosis of the liver, bought on by acute alcholism, as I've said elsewhere, alcholics are born as alcoholics, they dont aquire the addiction through binge drinking, and as Eagle says, the dealers are legal and they are everywhere, aided and abbetted by the stupid legislation of this current government:-(

Aerosols...Adhesives..Deodorants..Paint..Lighter Fuel..etc,etc..

Flower seeds, bannana skins,Dimaryl...the list is endless, but alcohol is STILL the worst, and nicotine, if you care to do a bit of research, is far far more addictive than smack, hands up those who tried to give up smoking/drinking....c'mon look into your souls and be honest with yourselves, you think you're a social drinker doing 5/6,whatever pints a night, youre a social alkie, and the ones who who sit at home posting on here AND and getting sozzled....you'll know who you are, and sorry, but I make no apology's for the observations...just giving you food for thought

one more thing.. alcohol is the only drug(with the exception of benzodiazepams like valium,ativan,temazepam etc) that can kill you if you stop taking it abrutly..unlike skag,crack,crystal meth,amphetamine etc where going through withdrwal might feel like your dying but in actual fact wont.

so its hardly a lightweight drug,just socialably excepted
