Had an unbelievable time on my new water(first time on)..30 runs in 20 hrs and in that time...never had a run for nearly 12 of them hrs...at one point it was four fish to a roll up
Nothing monstrous like and i knew this before joining,rumours of a couple upper 20`s but you get bull5hitters everywhere today..my biggest was 18,16.3/4,4 x 14`s then the rest below 13`sh to 9...a couple approx 7 and a barbel of about 4lb..still it was fun whilst it lasted..went thru 9 kilo of boilies,gonna give the place a break tho till winter i thinks..dont like all this keep fit and no sleep mallarkey

Me and another forum member Mr Edge wanted to go for a fish for a few days on sandhurst with a view of spending more time on
if the fishing and conditions suited but the lake was booked for the weekend,leaving us with only two days and this was a
restriction leaving us looking for another venue to have a go at.The new venue chosen shall remain annonymous and the famous
names who we came across too, pmsl..Also the knowlegde learnt and stratergies adjusted for,thats.. for when we return so not
to jeopordise our future chances..so,will be left out too!
Now,me and edgy are probably equal in what we expect from fishing and are at more of a maturer angler
state with a no-rush-chillout route and take it all in angle with not a drop of competitive race between us to go for glory
but only to enjoy being in chance of a monster or two..or atleast have rods amongst some monsters was just nice alone.Also
me and edgy are used to having lakes this size to ourselves in swimsize and what we witnessed maybe the norm in the race for
modern carp anglers and being there looking in was hilarious,bonkers great and downright stupidity all in the same session..the ups and
downs of events we seen and experienced, tolerated and perservered with nearly had us two extremely calm people on the verge
of tw4tting someone.......anyone.....anywhwere........for anything.....pmsl.
You may say..you get what you deserve for fishing there and i already know but just had to be witnessed and guess what..?
i`m going back and so is edgy for more.Thinking back..the comedy..the craziness..the motives...the key to unlocking the code
to catch and finding the level the fish are at had me buzzing all the same.
First this venue was chosen,google earthed..checked the weather..wind directions..etc.. etc!
Then the plan of attach was drawn up in mind a few days previous..Its amazing how much watercaft can be extracted from an
aerial photo alone.I`m not saying this can give you the lay out of the bottom.. snags or out,that needs extra information
deciphering on meeting the place and inspecting but the picture is mentally formulating as the information comes in from
seeing the place for the first time.
Anyway..i wanted swim one on the right by aerial photo..swim two was too close to one and 3 seemed a good`n to be in if one
was gone.Edgy had been a few times in the past so he knew what to expect although that soon changed once we landed(not many
on..dosent get bizzy midweek,we`ll have the place to ourselves) pmsl.
When we got to the kiosk i asked if my favoured swim was taken and the guiy replied..`errr i think such a body`s fishing
there and such a body`s is famous..i was using some of his pop-ups pmsl.
got to the lake entrance and could see 1 and 3 taken on the other side( the ones i wanted by the aerial photos)..lots were
on this side already(the roadside).
The wind was due to get up tomoz(thurs)gale force!.. and blow towards peg one so peg 5 and 7 were free.. 4 and six were too
small and too close for comfort to the others..there was plenty of anglers down the opposite bank too as we drove down so
they were not staying or not bothered about wind direction and changes so peg five looked favourite for me and edgy was
happy in seven,a swim hes fished previous had runs from and caught from..me,i had to be in 5,the start of a bay going
down into the corner to peg 1.As the two swims 1 and 3 was already taken and one of em supposedly by a famous angler.
Anyway,dropped gear..popped down to one and 3 for a chat ..as you do..nobody famous there and nowt caught by these two fellas
the two nights they were on but plenty were out the night before and they were going tomoz at dinner..nice,just in-time for
when the gales start i thought..i`ll sit in five and if pooh will jump in one when they pack up........foook it takes some
typing this does!!

just realised it`d take a full year to put down what happened so will keep it short tho events may be slightly out or in the wrong order because that much happened and was disorientated with the lack of sleep.
Anyway,set rods up,all three..baited ready,walked back up to the fella in 3 peg and could see his left hand rod line was pointing 45 degrees from his tip..and in my direction..so,i asked him how far out his left hand rod was..he said about 45 yards in my direction but it`d be ok tho..no-where near me.
Walking back to my swim approx 40 yards from him..hes out 45 yards at 45degrees ...plenty of room.
Got the boat out with finder on..time to check the area out and now approx 4pm.sorted the lake bed out and figured the hot spots to bait...out then goes approx a kilo of boilies over each rod...then a few scatters widely spread baits around the area././.
Then,just before dark,i noticed a boat sale over my right hand rod..the middle rod.. then the left rod..hoppers opened and down goes his stuff etc...So then as a walk up to peg 3 display my displeasure..which he claimed was 45 yards out from him not the 70 i make it with him being approx 40 yards away on the bank..So to keep the peace on my first trip i brought all my rods in and had to fish margins till he fooked off tomoz..which i could just about manage as i was fooked thru lack of sleep so good kip and in his or his mates swim tomoz at dinner!
fish crashed all night in swim one but nowt in mine..some big lumps too..i finished the first night off to a tench of around 7 sh and nowt more..had a good kip woke around 10am..went up to mateys swim to see if they had out and there was a bottle waiting inhis swim..he said , a lad from mancester as come up and getting in behind him when he packs up and thought the lad was with me..which he wasnt...so,had a chat with the fella from manchester and decided to let him have it(the swim pmsl) because secretly i knew them fish would do one soon as rigs and bait entered the water..plus the fish previous were round the corner two days previous and my swim was next place of stay if someone started bashing about..plus my baited areas which were rested the first night can now be fished wink once these fellas fook off..great!wink!
Acouple of hrs later they packed it booked it and f...ed off..Rods back out to the designated areas..lovely..When all of a sudden a bivvy was being put up in peg 3..Right ! up goes..`yo m8!,can i have a chat about where i`ve got my rods bla n blah blah..when this famous fella popped up..(the fella whose pop-ups i was using) pmsl.He said dont worry,i`m fishing straight out in front..no probs there then and an awfully nice chap..i smiled and walked off buzzing of the night ahead..all rods perfect..baiting technique perfect..spot on fealt very confident!!
My wise move.. or not to move -wise move proved fruitful..The fish scarpered..not one flipped pipped or bobbed..since their 7 rods were put in and my 3 in a total, of approx 80yards of a bay!

right,i started so i`ll finish quickly,wasted first night with fella in peg 3.Now fishing my own patch..Watched yonman in peg 3 cast his rigs..no-where near me.
12.30 second night started to get liners..no fish crashing in peg one.
1.35 am...screamer right h rod...struck,fealt strange like swimming into me but at an angle.Left rod rips off...swam into my other line.. dam!...2nd rod rips off..musta swam into that one as well..something big on the rod i`m holding and others bleeping away. shouts edgy to give me an hand..bumps off whatever was on..dam..then proceed to reel in my 2nd and 3rd rod..unhooks the mess on rod one..puts to one side..brings in the middle rod..to one side..left hand rod..sommat on..then nowt..no nothing. no lead only slack..bastid..wtf happened there then left me scratching my head??
Sorted all rods out and back in withing minutes due to having a rotation policy on rigs ready with sticks on ready to dip and cast at all times...rapid stuff here!
When i hear edgy rustling about in his swim two swims up.
went to have a look and i`m not kidding here when the list of events what happened were exactly the same as mine..except i think he had two rods completely wiped out.././perfect!,the best night completely stuffed up for both of us!!
So conclusion nowis a cat or a big fish trailing something about or something.
When, through the trees to edgy`s left i could see delks lights on..i said to edgy am gonna warn him next door about the trailer..edgy tried stopping me for some reason but i stomped off to tell him.
When all was revealed by Dr watson here...fellas playing a cat..46 precise...and the fella probably had the same in cans of beer...not hard to work out..and next day he couldnt remember catching the cat!!!!!!!!!!!
5.30 am had a screamer..ran out in socks..no time for wellies and struck to nothing on the r h rod.Wind was howling and cast straight back owt in the general area..eyes clogged up..didnt see it land but line seemed to point in the general direction..when yonman next door came up and said ive just casted in his swim..he was a bit piffed..and so was i cos thought he was miles away but musta crept his way over slighty upon seeing something..anyway big name..keep the peace..re cast and was a bit off but not by much..fook it and stuck some bait out too..as you do then brew!

Two nights f...ked up..
One by matey in peg 3 and one by matey next to edgy in peg 8...how much worse can it get we asked ourselves?
About 10am,Yonman the famous was packing up in peg 3,not a bad word for him cos hes a really nice bloke but thought i`d pop over and say tatti-bye before he did one.Anyway his conclusion for catching nowt which shows hes as human as the rest of us was that the water was too cold off the wind and rain we received..taking into consideration this was after probably 3 weeks of a constant heatwave of around 27 29 degrees..hmmm!..but who am i to argue hey?
Anyway goodterms after my miss-cast earlier and he left his m8 from mancunia in swim one...nowt caught....they said!..erm!
3rd night to come...people popping up with a bottle to drop in peg 3 ...lots of em too...warned where my lines were so to deter em as edgy moved his lines to the right because of cat fella next to him sticking a marker bang dead centre of edgy`s swim and fellas opposite him dropping bait boats stuff allover where he was..he moved his rods over to his right and so did i.
AUDACITY...boat comes over my swim and peg 4 and peg 3 to my right approx 60 yards out... from yonman opposite too...fook i thought this is getting ridiculous now so started casting about and hoped to hook the bastuardos lines...but didnt need to upon 3 casts...the message was retreived and went home in double quick time...nonetheless..bait being dropped allover...bonkers!!!
light started to fade and set my rods well early on the 3rd night...popped my r h rod right on a big lump that boshed about 45 yards owt slightly to my right..somewhere near the famous fellas empty swim.
edgy said to me it cant get any worse when one boshed out over my middle rod...a big foooking scary bastardo tooo..lovely!!
Edgy said your in for one tonight when two anglers..bigger and scarier than the carp that just crashed started eyeing up peg 3 and 4 next to me...whoa..foook this i said and went up to sort it out..amicably ofcourse..anyway.the arthur daly of carp fishing came out in me...what info i picked up from there from various anglers came out..couldnt believe it..was this my competitive streak returning i asked myself later.Who cares, i thought ..i fed em some stuff and they took it...they were last seen setting up at the other end of the lake..pmsl.
Right,just as you think..nobody is gonna bother now..its too late.. a bunch of argos instants turned up with 100pound ron thompson set-ups and all brand new to have a bash...wanted to go in peg 6 between me and edgy...told one he couldnt if he was fishing more than 15 yards..and also ripped into em about giggling away through the night which had him scarpering for the noddy lake at the back..his mates followed..pheeew!
Then the night was upon us..fish allover me..the lines removed out of swim 3 was the reason i thought...so two nights wasted by other anglers on the bank and not by me or edgy...or the fish!..have it!!!

Ok third night.fish rolling everywhere..majority over my middle rod and dark came with a few boshes close with no co-ordinates for but in the general area..single bleeps on all rods at different intervals..sommats mooching..found it hard to get to sleep..calm water now and when gale force previous nights ..not bleeping away like this..half 12 and must`ve nodded off sometime soon after.
I opened my eyes and it was coming light..focused in on my bobbins..nowts moved..seemed piffed i`d had nowt and then dropped straight back off to sleep saying to myself..am gonna get nowt now..if i couldnt get one to bite last night with the fish going bananas..am unlikely to now ..the lake seemed dead..
Back to dreamland!
Closed my eyes for what seemed like only a second to which i found out after was approx an hour n half ..To an almighty ripsnorter off a screamer on my right hand rod that seemed to pick up speed with the way the tone sounded ... had me out in my socks with rod in hand before i opened my eyes,fully...fish on !..ooOOOOO A big bastuardo too..lifted rod and bang right back down...had me fiddling with the clutch to loosen before my rod was at 2 o`clock....right set,fish went on a mad`n to my right, rod is now low to my left and clutch blazing and am trying to slow down and gain some bend at the same time...managed to slow it down on the clutch or the fish slowed itself down on a combination of curved arc in line and weed it collected along it ..then it stopped...stopped dead... I gained some line back and started to heave in some lump which felt weed covered , with witnessing and experiencing fish fights like this before didnt want to lose any momentum on the fish as what would normally happen in these conditions is.. the fish then steams out of the lump of weed at distance and leaves you tackling the fish from another angle which usually leads to a hook pull...so no momentum loss here..but as the lump/s got close ..what seemed close anyway...everything locked up..no problem here i thought.
Rod now at 11 o`clock and tip at 2 o`clock...and bend into and hold for a bit...fish was heavy bumping...a few of these i thought, it`ll be owt in no time..when the line went ping ! on the steady pressure after what seemed like about 5 minutes of heavy pressure...bastid!
I was upset..never felt a fight as intense as this for what? years...That was a bigun i thought as i sat back on my chair for a good ten minutes or more coming down off the ride i`d just been on...i still had the rod and a loose line in hand..pmsl(now)looking back..it could`ve been half n hour!!!
Back down to earth after half n hour...rod rigged stigged dipped n placed back into the rolling fish area of the 14 hrs previous...5.30am..theres still time..maybe. Then thought..you only get one shot on a place or a swim like this and it`ll probably be 48hrs before this swim returns to normal after that scrap..and especially if the dominant carp of the pack was hooked too..but yer never know..then it was brew on! Brew in hand popped to edgy next door..when approaching ..noticed a big ball of white line in his swim in front of his bivvy and rods allover the place...
He`d seen some action which is gonna be hard to type and even harder to understand or read but i`ll give it a go..anyway..he gets a screamer right hand rod...which then stops and proceeds to go breamlike in the take from which he hits it..could be a carp arcing or sommat...Then it goes into his other line and smashes that one up...so hes now playing a fish what he had on on the right rod,now on his left..he gets his line in a bit and manages to get to the balls up then handlines the lump thats on...he gets what he describes as a good fifty cat into the side..which had leads and hooks coming out of it so he decides to clean the fish of all the tangles as it was close to deathlike and sluggish..it stayed in the margin while he unteathered it and never made any attempt to move whilst doing so...so hes doing this and one of his lines hes retrieved is giving him a tug as he tries to retreive a lead from where he once was..hes now playing in another cat which he brought in and was about 15lb..his hook was in it..and so was somebody elses...he unhooks it ..the other cat is still there in the edge but lower in the water while all this is going on...the other hook in the 15...the line edgy then wound up from out of the lake..lots of it...then he hears catmans buzzer going nextdoor...his lights going off on his delks..he pulled on it for a good five minutes...the fella never woke....hmmmmmm!
I felt sorry for edgy ..3 nights out of 3 foooked..i atleast had one night of decent fishing..altho i lost one i felt another go on there later on in the year will seem better knowing what i do now..Anyway..the place...i liked it...put all the nonesense to oneside and i think it liked me...theres a connection there for me and am gonna have a look into it a bit further...sometime...
I asked a regular if it was a good winter water before i packed up and he replied...its rock hard in winter on here it dies a death in winter...music to my ears
