You can make the bait dissapear down a length of nylon, which alters the point of axis of the hook completely once the bait is blown on ejection.. keeping the bait on for another inspection by another fish. Trying to fool the fish into thinking that they have completely blown out the bait (and hook?) is what you are hopefully trying to achieve..I know how you think
No PVA involved, no tangles, and it nails em.
A very early version of the Extended Nylon 'D' rig which i made a version of in the early / mid nineties, does exactly this, with either a bottom or pop up bait. The rig is as effective now, as it was back then. The version of modern day 'D' rigs that are often published in the 'Glossies' make me chuckle to myself, as it seems to me that it looks like a totally opposite of what it was originally designed to do Surely the little curve of nylon the length of a hookshank isn't supposed to replicate a bait being fully ejected?
You can achieve a bait being blown back out the mouth of a fish of around two to three inches.. leaving a totally bait free hook to fall and snag a carps mouth (i won't say every time) because nothing is foolproof.
I f*cked around with a few variants of this rig and totally turned it upside down, and reversed the 'D' where as the bait sits at the eye or whipping of the hook, with the bend of the hook weighted so the bend touches the lake bed acting as a 'claw'effect. A young guy that i shown this rig to, went over to Belgium working with the 'Kryston' stand for a few days and had one in a tank that had many queries of it's origin.

tudge ..cheers for saying how it is ,better to here what somebody really thinks than to sit reading snide comments from others where it serves no purpose/help to anybody that only shows the persons own nature !!!

...i presume like tudge we are all looking for the killer rig to give us the edge and confidence to sit and wait for the runs with total relaxation combined and why not,we deserve it!!!

...i`ve used the d. rig in the past where if it`s blown out it can travel back to where the shot would be if it was a pop-up,a knot if a bottom bait, they worked!!!

...the first rig with the drennan b.stop was an idea to use with/when fish were there and causing such a commotion you can`t see `em,then extended to use on tricky fish on cold frosty calm shy days!!!

...the second with the d.floss thru, was an adaption to my own and same query`s from above!!!this time combined with tubing bent giving the bent affect for hook placement, when blown to shift would take more force to get rid of maybe 3 or 4 goes more, then when it does......you can guess the rest!!!

.....i`m not stating these are the ultimate rigs and are therefore on display for anyone to play around with now or sometime in the future and hope they go somewhere to help to improve peoples catches.....all i ask is be honest like tudge with good/ bad feedback,it`ll be appreciated and help me overcome any future problems on other rigs which are better and will be on display for all to see FREE!!!thanks for `any` input!!!!

Was that comment for me timber?
I did try to post a reply to your second question but some one phoned my house phone and the bloody thing switched off my internet connection and my post vanished .

I never meant to come accross as snide fella, i realy am interested in your rig which i think should have a place in every ones armoury, mine included. I also think it could definately put a few fish on the bank in the right situation.

My last post(the one that vanished) was very similar to tudge`s in the fact that i think your rig is very similar in theory to the early/proper d rigs, so wont re-type the post.
Like you, I love messin about with different rigs and set ups also and am quite envious and impressed in the fact you have come up with a genuine alternative to the norm .
Have you caught any fish on the rig in question?
I think your on to a winner .
Good luck.

Jamie.

TBH Timber my thoughts are the same as one of the previous posters...

I appreciate what your trying to get at with the rig but I just wouldn't use it because I beleive even the smallest nudge from any sort of fish will leave the hook baitless. Also if the bait bouyancy and hook pattern arn't matched correctly then I can forsee trouble getting the hook to 'Hang' properly. Thats not a snide comment just my honest feelings about it.

I've used the elongated 'D' and caught fish using it although I don't think the rig made much of a difference in those particular instances. It's a nice idea and a good compromise between hook and bait seperation and maintaining presentation.

Here's one I played about with for a while......till I got bored of it and chucked it in the bottom of my bait buckett.

I'm not showing you my 'Chod' Rig tho....

good!!!some good constructive critism from some good anglers and i`m willing to listen too, in order to clear any doubts anybody might have, uber! i wasn`t directing at you m8 but merely setting out my stall of prevention before anybody started to take that route ,cheers for the kind comments tho!!!!!!
mr .jb,ive tested these and you wouldn`t believe how hard it is to seperate the pop-up from the hook under water!!!i understand your reason of doubt about the set-up but all i can say is try making one, fill your bath and `try` and dislodge it,although i had my doubts the same as you cause all eventualities were considered before testing and an alternative was already constructed if met with failure but was never needed as this one was well capable of doing exactly as it looks, however i could show the next stage if this failed...no !!! ...i will show you it,it will be up in my gallery in a bit!!!

...IT`S UP THERE NOW!!!
