According to a FW post (hastily deleted I might add) last weekend The Phone did a runner with three and a half grands worth of charidee money from a fish-in that he was involve in.

Spoke to two of my friends in the trade and apparently the original FW post was correct and The Phone is now banished from the Carp Angling scene and even Mr Fox has been to his gaff to recover all the freebies.

Apparently...

This is what it says on the Mid Kent Fisheries website
"Mid Kent Fisheries would like to confirm that Mr Michael (Mick) Perry is no longer associated with us.

He will have no involvement in any of our activities both now and in the future."

Saw a copy of Carpworld yesterday and the guy is crawling all over the rag like a cheap suit. He seems to be a (ex) member of a growing group of carp anglers who are famous for being famous, rather than any notable captures.

On about timing!!! The scandal probably emerged as the last copy rolled off the printers.

A very sad story for carp fishing, let us hope it has no negative impact on the many superb schemes that raise money for good causes via carp fishing.

Have to say this totally disgusts me no matter what excuse he uses. Being involved in setting up a charity event myself and relying on individuals and companies within the carp scene to support such events which more and more do each year, what Mick has done will effect all our hard work. Thousands and thousands of pounds has passed through mine and others hands to put back something from a sport we love, I can safely say not one penny has failed to reach its intended charity. Hope every penny is paid back by this man plus interest

Alot of them love the limelight and love to prance around in it.

Met a few this year who know jack-sh1t about fishing compared to the drivel they write - although they initailly come across friendly - a little too friendly sometimes.... One of them is a 'guide' to a lake in a European country who was asking me about swims in my 4 weeks experience on the lake - and most of them come from the same 'stable'.

I am sure this theiving chap has read these posts and has true regrets for what he did. If you read this then at least give it all back to make yourself feel a little better inside.

He sounds like a "A love me loud mouth look at me i can suck carp d1ck wannabe - I will do anything to get may mug in a mag [censored]" - unless someone can correct me. Seen em all and they are just that.

If you are a young angler reading this then please just fish for yourself and share it with your mates only. Its getting far too public now our hobbie. Dont get big headed.

While i am on a rant - I always reckoned your face looked shifty Mick - you ignorant stupid theiving fool. How dare you do that to sick children. You simlpy thought you where cleverer, I know - I know you are thick.

Always struck me as a greasy wideboy type from his writings. Typical of the type of angler/person that you hate turning up at your l;ake ready to give it the big un...blah blah blah.

Honestly theres so many anglers/writers about at the moment who seem to have no interest in the countryside or the art of their quarry. Main criteria to write for Carpworld seems to be reliability and consistency, not magic or emotion.

Then pen a few articles yourself.. it's easy to criticise those that do... Content.. now that's a different issue...

here is a post from the MKF forum by Chris Logdson about the course of events -

Quote:

Guys firstly let me say a thank you for being patient over this issue, I will now tell you exactly the chain of events which led to me sussing out Mr Perry and subsequent events. There have been a lot of rumours on this issue so hopefully this will quash those rumours as these are the facts, but it is still under police investigation therefore I hope you will not do or say anything that might obstruct that investigation.

As you know over the last two weekends of May we hosted fish with the chaps charity events organised by Mr Perry. All monies paid by the bidders were paid directly to him and he decided that the two charities that were to benefit from the events would be The MacMillan Nurses and the Rainbow Trust. I had not heard of the Rainbow Trust at this time but he explained it helped terminally ill children and their families to have respite care, therefore I thought it was a very worthwhile cause.

Throughout the two events large ammounts of money were also raised by raffles and donations plus the sale of all drinks, all of which was in cash. Mr Perry was in charge of all funds.

A week after the events Lin and I went on holiday and returned the last week of June. I rang Mr Perry and asked what was the final ammount raised and when would we have the presentations of the cheques. He told me that £7000 had been raised and that he had already paid the Rainbow Trust, I was a little disappointed as I thought there would be an official photo presentation. He said that all they had done was send him a receipt and no letter of thank you which I thought was strange at the time because charities thrive on publicity, but I took him at his word, he just said oh we will never help them again and really ran the charity down. I then said what about the McMillion Nurses and he said he would get on the case. Another week went by with no word so I rang again to see what was happening, he got a bit irate and said he would get it organised for the next week.
MacMillan came down to Chilham and we presented the cheque which he brought down for £3,500. I asked Helen from the MacMillan what she knew about the Rainbow Trust and she explained what they did and why was I asking, I explained that all they had done was send a receipt for the £3,500 without even a letter of thanks. She thought this was very unusal as all charities need publicity, Mr Perry was standing beside me and was saying yeh we will never use them again and really running the charity down which was very embarrassing.

Later that week he sent me a text saying that he had rung the Rainbow Trust and they had apologised for not sending a letter and that he now had a letter of thanks. This I thought was the least they could do. On the following Monday Keith my assistant Manager came back from holiday and said that he had £250 which he had raised from sponsorship and what should he do with it, I said I expect Mick Perry would want him to send it directly to the Rainbow trust and that I would ring him to find out. When I rang him he told me that he knew that Keith had raised about £250 so he had paid it himself and that he would come down later in the week to pick it up. He was also going to pocket that as well!!!.

Lin then saw that Mr Perry had put it on our website about the money raised and the two charities involved. Our company then wanted to put it in our in house magazine, so I tried to ring Perry to ask him to send and email of the photo shoot with MacMillan and a copy of the thankyou letter from Rainbow Trust. He would not answer his phone so I rang him at home and his wife answered, I expained the above and she said their computer was broken and could not send anything, we now know this was also a lie because she had been emailing other people that day. I thought ok I would ring MacMillan and ask Helen for her copies which she gladly did and she also asked how we had got on with Rainbow and I told her we now had a letter of thankyou, and she said well at least thats something. I then thought well if they had sent a letter they must have a copy so we looked up their address and phone number on the web and I rang them.

I started by sounding quite annoyed as I thought they had been very poor in their response. I spoke to the head of fund raising and explained who I was and that i would like a copy of the letter sent to Mr Perry thanking us for raising £3,500, she said she was sorry but had no idea what i was talking about. I kept repeating about the money Mr Perry had sent in June and she said she had received no donations for that ammount over the past few months. My head was just spinning and felt physically sick. She realised from my voice that I was upset and told me she would make some investigations with her head of accounts and she would phone me back within a couple of hours. I cannot explain how sick I felt I just sat there in a daze not wanting to believe what I had heard - I was actually in tears. She rang back and confirmed my worst fears and I immediately tried to ring Mr Perry but no answer so I texted him and said please ring me urgently, I made no mention of the money. He texted me back immediately and said you have obvisly sussed me out yes I have spent the money got out of control please can I rely on your discretion. I cannot repeat what I said back to him he is the lowest form of slime that inhabits the earth. I immediately rang the companies he worked for and they then informed all the papers. I then called the police and made statements to them and gave them copies of all the texts he had sent admitting what he had done. At no time has he shown any remorse all he has been concerned about is his own well being. There is no excuse for what he has done, to steal from terminally ill children is bad enough but also from all his mates - there is nothing lower. I am 100% sure he had no intention of ever paying this money although now he says he is trying to pay it back, but that is only because he has been found out and the police are on his case, the bloke is a scum bag.

What we are asking now is that anybody who either took part in the two events or just came down for a social please, please come forward and let us know how much you donated, bid or spent on raffles etc so that we can find out just how much was raised - it could turn out to be more then he says.

I am so sorry that this has happened - it really is bad for angling - I have never felt so low about anything, but hopefully he will pay for what he has done.
I would lik to say a big thanks to Fox International, Mainline and Total Carp for donating the money to the charity concerned so that they are not out of pocket and the kids don't suffer, a big big thankyou to everybody concerned.

Well that's how it is as of now, I will keep you all informed, if ever you see this scum bag on any lake or in any angling shop we need to know about it please.

Thanks for putting it all in perspective Chris through Ginster.
Very pleased that Chris had the courage to expose this base act and not do as was asked by the guilty party.
A great shame not more people have this courage to expose the cynicism that seems to be gripping areas of our sport.

I've just read Chris' statement via Ginsters post on my lunch break & I'm sickened by the lengths Mick Perry has gone to, to cover up his actions..................

Surely the man must have mental issues to do such a thing, I mean he must be stupid beyond all belief to have thought he would get away with it??

I actually thought about getting on a fish with the chaps event for me & my brother as a present sometime in the future before all this came out, what a complete fool, clearly he does not have a conscience

After reading that and as stated its the facts it left me sat here feeling really sh1t and kinda of empty.... then crack the thunder has started!! Bit sureal really. Credit to the companies who have put up the cash anyway. More than they had too!!!

I think it could very well be the end of mr perry.

He should have his balls cut off.paedo`s should !!!

.....if he`s given a second chance like everybody should, that he`s as famous as he`s supposed to be,giving let`s say £10,000 to the charity he stole from, would be half-way to restoring some of his credability,so come on nick cough -up while you still can before karen gets a grip!!!then you`ll be forgiven in my book!!!

I said he should have his balls cut off. Because I though (think)that, that is about the worst thing one could do to a bloke.

Second chance!!!! you have got to be jokeing. This was money paid out by working people, to help sick childeren.

No way back for him, I am afraid.

The bloke nicked a large amount of money that was destined for a charity and was (this time?) caught.

He hasnt killed anyone, he hasnt sexually assulted children and he isnt the head of the Waffen SS.

Wether its through sheer remorse or wether its because he`s lost ALL his credibility, celebrity status, fishing income and been deserted by his sponsers, he will be feeling as low as anybody could want.

He now faces a future being branded as a thief and being treated as a leper by those who he relied on the most, added to that he will probably be undergoing a criminal investigation by the police.

So lets not ALL jump on the "He Should BE Crucified" bandwagon, his punishment - I am sure - will far outway his crime, people sometimes make mistakes ( all be it some bigger than others).

Also a big thumbs up to the Sponsers who apparently stumped up the shortfall through their own pockets.

Here's my thoughts, what he did was wrong, very wrong and for that he will regret it for the rest of his life, he will lose friends and credibility and so he should, he won't be able to show his head around any of the popular fisheries again...ever.

He will also be prosecuted and will face trial with a possible jail sentence.

My feelings are to him, that he should repay the money to the kids and if he can't then he should dedicate sufficient time working for the charity until it can be regarded as "Paid Off"

Once that is done, then he has repaid his debt to society and everyone should call the dogs off.

I've made mistakes in life, some very big ones that I am ashamed of now, but society gave me more than one chance, and everyone deserves that providing no one was killed, maimed or injured.

Jail No chance. Any decent brief will say, so exactly were in the contract was the date agreed to pay over the money.....and its then the whole shoddy house of cards will tumble. Handing over sackfuls of readies without documentation is asking for it, which doesnt justify it. My money is on him walking, totally. Oh, and I have made mistakes, and as carp anglers come from all walks of life, chances are we number a few robbers, muggers, burglars, rapists and murderers amongst us. We just dont know. I believe they are described as "colourfull"....

He has delayed 3.5 k going were it was going. Nicked it ? Prove it then

John there is a charge called Obtaining a Pecuniary Advantage by Deception... He could also be charged with simple theft or Obtaining Property (money) by Deception...

That is precisely what he has done, it does not require a written contract or documentation... He raised 3.5k in charitable donation from unsuspecting sponsors and then pocketed the money for himself... The original bank notes have been taken and he has treated them as his own to dispose of, that is all that is legally required. Even if others stump up the cash to replace it that is legally irrelevant, it is the original banknotes or cheques which were obtained by deception and disposed of: that is what concerns the law.

So for example if an employee takes £5 from a till, and puts in a note saying IOU £5, then replaces the £5 he has taken the following day with a different £5 note, he is still guilty and liable for a theft charge under English law - because the original physical note has been taken...

The CPS is interested in two things:

1. Can we get a conviction? On the evidence I would say yes.

2. Is it in the public interest to prosecute? Definitely, Yes.

your right John, the prisons are at bursing point and they're letting serial burgalrs and muggers roam free. I'd be surprised if he got any more than a suspended sentance or a bit of community service. His real sentance will be being treated like a pariah by the angling communtity and by his family and friends. punishments handed out by our lame courts pass quickly, peoples memories last a long long time

well put whitey, and as you quite rightly say it is a fact.all been put to one side though hasn't it ?? expect mr perry to be back as the media darling he so craved to be within five years..

one of the five lads that were charged with the murder of steven laurence was banned from his local syndicate BEFORE he'd stood trial, upon aquital the ban still stood.it'll be interesting to see how mr perry fares on that front..

It is a matter of public record, there is nothing to be gained from denying it... However, perhaps we should leave people's past misdameanors as just that .... past misdameanors...

I have no doubt that Mick Perry is regretting his actions and that he has lost a lot more than 3.5K over this... however he has not killed anyone, not raped your daughter.. just stolen some money.. without violence.. bad.. but not really a hanging offence is it???

No, not a death penalty requirement but he lied consistently, and ripped off a charity for a measly 3.5 k, he knew what he was doing and would have got away with it had he not been sussed at which point the full ramifications sunk in and self pity reared its pathetic head. The man is a grade 'A' Cnut and will be rightly vilified for his base and greed driven actions.
Read the full statement from MKF geezer who rumbled him.
Pre-meditated, remember that phrase.
The question is, so far only his (perrys') word is available on the amount missing..........honour amongst thieves?

There is a line you just don't cross and this is it and only those with no morals or principles will dare to , fortunatly however what goes around comes around , you might want to take notice of that seeing as you enjoy bringing up peoples past misdemeanors when it suits , pot kettle black comes to mind !!

Interesting post this. What this guy did was very unpleasent. Nicking from your mates / lying about it shows a poor character. The dying kids bit, whilst pulling on the heartstrings, is irrelevent to the crime.

Had Mick Perry (carp angler) been involved in his local golf club raffle, and done the same, he would probably get a mention in the back pages of carp world and we would all laugh...

What a pointless post lancji, sorry for being so blunt.

He didn't steal from a golf club he stole, in essence, from terminally ill children and that is what has got so many people's backs up.

The quantity and source of the money is of no relevance.

What a nice compassionate statment i bet you and Pete are always at the front of the queue when the charity box comes round !!
You're right Pete i am capable of writing much better stuff that people would want to read which is more than you could ever do but it's no wonder i don't bother on here with you pair of turds spouting off your egotistal crap coz you like the sound of your own keypad .Let's face it Pete the only thing you ever wrote that made any sense was when you first learnt to spell your name , you wanna ban me for wanting to severly punish someone for this diabolical act and for daring to challange your opinion then do it i'm sure Paul will be proud of his mod for seeing this crime as not that bad !! As for you Lancs you need a reality check if you can compare nicking from a golf club raffle to stealing from dying kids !!!

Not a timber, i like the idea of the kids benefiting 3 fold , but i feel that the sliding into obscurity bit is not a fit enough punishment, even if he would be 10 grand lighter

He is nowhere to be found, and anyhow i dont think that i would be the first to get hold of him, i reckon there might be a bit of a queue
Mind you, i would be in front of some of you mob

I think a few of the Fox/Mainline boys (one in particular!!) might be at the front of the queue. The amount of carpers in this country..... its only a matter of time unitl he bumps into one (s fist) wheter it be by a lake or outside Tescos. Only a matter of time......

And saying its like nicking for a raffle....... thats like saying a drug dealer getting shot is the same as someone killing a granny for her pension. Even criminals have morals - well most do anyway, and the sick few get what they deserve inside.

Managed to snaffle a bag of pic n mix off a kid yesterday outside my local newsagents I wouldn't have bothered normally, but the little twonk made me wait 10 minutes just for a pack of greens.

O.K

So the Cola bottles & white chocolate mice may have swayed my decision to pilfer them somewhat.

Surely the fact that he admited his guilt proves he is not innocent or is that just me being stupid?

Go on the the MKF forum and there is an official statemnt from Chris Logesden (sp) on the matter.

Nice one Harry, seems to me there are getting more people on here who would rather put in the hours behind a computer screen where it's nice and warm and dry than behind the rods.

I've actualy become more and more fed up with having to share bank space with all the instant, lets throw a fortune at the tackle shop, tackle tart type idiot's that turn up every week. you know the ones all the gear no idea and when they've cast across you/ baited up over you and generaly been a pain in the arse start to spout on about "Oh you must have heard of me, i'm on such and such a site. I'm always posting loads because i know everything". It's knob's like this and the over commercialism of carp angling in general that made me jack it in. It just ain't the same game i used to enjoy 20 years ago when you didn't have to type complete bollox on sites like this to inflate your own ego's.
I think this will be my last rant on here so feel free to take the sap at will.

dont turn your name on yourself..

but i do feel the same on the topic sometimes, what you gotta do is chillout whilst fishing first, then gradually with time you`ll become as interested as ever!!!in that time of transistion, most who you are on about will be playing golf instead!!!

two or less years later you will buy a couple of rods and some gear, seen it all before.....

unless you are under the thumb, and when shes gone you will buy more gear and be an instant reborn angler.....

Thanks for the empathy NOTaTIMBER. And as for your post Lanc (doesn't that rhyme with something?) i take it you are trying to imply i was some sort of tackle tart. i'll bet your list of current tackle blows mine out of the water, no pun intended.
And Oyster for your info there's no reason for me to be worried about been under the thumb seeing as how my wife has been diagnosed with something a bit worse than i'd wish on my worst enemy.
You never know i may pick the rods up again in the future but i hope to god that the instant, glory hunting, arse hole element's still not in the next swim.

Interestingly enough, why on earth would you choose the internet fishing handle 'sawnoff'?

Perhaps a brief explantion would clear things up!

I don't really see why i should have to "clear things up" but here we go.
It was a nicknane i picked up when i first started work and it's just stuck. I'm only 5 foot 6 tall and all the other lads i worked with were over 6 foot.
Is that a good enough reason for you?

Hello Missin, if you read this thread properly, which you havent, then you will see me castigating mr Perry at every opportunity! my post was in reply to someone who seemed to think that it may have all been a mistake,.
Why do you not read a bit more before you post and then you will not come across as such an absolute w@nker.
(If you cared to put your name in your profile instead of being a faceless prick, then i could also address you by name!)

This is the first ive heard about Mr Perry ( see other post from me!)
I met him a few times, once through a mainline thing, and a couple of times at linear. To be fair i didnt really like the bloke from the off, just somthing about him a few of the others had noticed too after reading the posts.

Well it seams like hes lost everything because of this, and its a good job too!!

RIP Perry
