UPDATE:December 31'st 2010, twelve months ago today. It was cold, all the lakes nearby were frozen solid, and had been for a week or so. Last chance to go fishing until my new permits were purchased so I did the only option availabe....I fished a river for the first time in about 34 years.
Hadn't a clue what I was doing really (nothing new there
) but 3 hours and 6 chub later I WAS HOOKED.
So, this year (2011) I have spent most weekends on the Dane, with a couple of trips to the Dove and Severn, which I both blanked on. I'm still carp fishing, but only for a few hours after work, or Sunday mornings. I think I've only managed 3 separate nights in total this year, instead of about 6 nights a month the previous year.
TBH, I don't miss it too much, but went for a few hours this afternoon and managed an 18.13 common, so I ended the year on a winner.
