.......and I was on the bank again last night, 7 of us on the big lake.
Snotty weed, yeuck!
I don't think anyone caught, I certainly didn't, had the best sleep in 10 days, and home in time to see Scorch before she left for work.

Good conditions last night ian aswell,whos scorch ?. is it the wife.

A blank is part of fishing, and sometimes we learn from it.
Friday night to midday Saturday I was back on the weedy water.
I blanked, what did I learn?
Don't fish in a swim that has recently been vacated. The swim had been spodded with hemp, the swim at 90 degrees to me had also been spodded. The carp were showing in quantities at about 60 yards, the weed beds started at about 40 yards.
All my fish in the last few weeks had been caught from 15 to 20 yards out, they weren't coming in that close this time.
Fishing in the silkweed at 60 yards didn't produce any runs, but I pulled out of one at 11.30 in the morning close in.
I wonder how the small lake fished?

As carp fishing sucks, I'm going tench/rudd/roach fishing this (Sunday) morning.

Well I filled me boots the weekend before so by the law of averages I will be all Cheshire cat again when next by the water.

Had fish, head shouldering n fizzing over me spodded patch but no damn pickup from the rod in the middle of it or one just off it The right hand one launched to the far bank would appear to not be close enough judging by the bankside casting n dropping your rig in team seemed to be THE winning tactic this weekend.

The pepper smelling weed in the small lake is something else as well, anyone else come across it before?

The biggun's came out of both lakes at the weekend as well, pity the common is down in weight but that's what you get with all the hemp in the world going in & no food bait............

The lads fishing the field pulled out of lots of fish due to the weed, we need to be patient & wait for the chemistry to work, then come September/October time..........

Pleasure to meet you Ian, next time I'll have the kettle on for you mate! Did not get round Saturday as I was sat sans Bivvy sulking with the mother of all wisdom tooth ache.......
