NIGHTMAREMonday,20/11/06.
I arrived at the lake at about 7.30 pm as normal. After shutting to and locking the gate after myself (it was previously left open

) I drove along the track to the far end of the lake, basically to see which way the wind was blowing, I like to keep the door open and don't want a winter draught in my face, particularly if there's a chance of rain.
Only one other angler on the lake,in the leak swim, for a change I settled into peg 7.
A touch windy (howlin') so the bivvy went up first, then the rods in.
I really didn't know whether I was just staying until midnight,or until 6am. Anyway, after having my supper and a can of pedigree I soon nestled into the warmth of my sleeping bag, not that I was cold anyway as I had on my sundridge double thick "baby grow".

It was a strange night, no ducks or owls to be heard, but the wind was making a tree behind me creak as branches rubbed together, at times it sounded like somebody whistling. I'm sure that as I lay there I heard a couple of cars driving down the track towards the gate.
Soon, I was surrounded by 7 or 8 people who had just decided to go fishing in the dark, I had a feeling they were college students. Two guys set up just to my right and proceded to cast in their method rods and ground bait, which was all ready for fishing. I of course asked to see their permits, but they said they didn't need them and just carried on.
Fook me, within minutes there was at least forty people near by, some fishing, some just walking around. Four of them drove a car up the bank and then pushed it straight into the lake.

I couldn't believe what was happening, I picked up my phone, but who ya gonna call?
Everytime I attempted to call the police, one of the crowd came nearby and spoke to me, very polite and not causing any problems,as such.
Some how I then noticed that my car was missing, panic set in and I could feel myself sweating. I asked one of the "visitors" where it was, and he replied "right next to Clifford's swim".
Sh1te, I hope not, that's a different lake, miles away.
Just then I had 3 bleeps on my middle rod, the only one not backleaded.
That soon woke me up.

It was caused by the otter working it's way across the lake in a side to side grid pattern until it eventually ended up 20 feet to my right.
I then went back to sleep, and blanked.
