The oblong lake.
Friday evening after work, and I went fishing with HARV.
That's not quite true as I've never been fishing with Harv, we just happen to sometimes fish the same lake on the same day, sometimes we even bivvy up within 50 yards of each other. He nearly always arrives at a lake 1/2 an hour or more before me, so I phone for swim availability.
'Twas a nice night on Friday, light and warm, with westerly wind. Harv arrived 1 minute before me, so had first swim choice, I didn't want it anyway, I thought the fish might have followed the wind.
Let's have quick closeure on this.
I blanked, Harv had his first fish (ever) off the lake before it went dark. I was that pleased for him you'd have thought I'd caught it.
I had a few cans to celebrate.
Harv also had a scraper 20 at 2.30 am, but didn't wake me to photo it. I'd have woken him.
END.

SUNDAY 29/05/06
2'd club match was won by Harry.....again, carp and a c** for 30.02.
This method fishing works well for him, does better than most carp-only anglers.
I came 4'th with 2 roach for 12oz.

oops! Sunday was the 28'th.
MONDAY: 29/05/2006.
The oblong lake.......again. I think this is becoming an obsession.
Went again last night after work, fished from 7.30 to 6.30 this morning, blanked again. This is becoming silly.

A day off work today due to a hospital appointment, I may, or may not, have the first stage of glaucoma, so it's eye-drops now every night for the rest of my life.

So, mid afternoon I returned to the oblong lake , didn't know whether to fish for 6 hours or to stay all night.
I did see a fish jump, a rarity on this lake, but well out of reach.
As usual I had the lake to myself, + 2 tufties and 2 mallards.
Had a re-cast for the night at 8 pm and got into my sleeping bag at 9pm, as I was sleepy for some reason.
Asleep in no time, to be wakened by a constant bleeping on a MX, the result was a pleasant looking symmons fish of 21.06 , my first 20 from this water.
Well pleased, in fact I packed up and came home, work friday, then off on hols.
Didn't want to catch another anyway, leaving them for tomorrow for HARV.

Photo's have been edited to hide the background, unfortunateley it also ruins the pics.

Hols over, back home, showered, then back to the oblong lake a.s.a.p.
7pm saturday night to 10am sunday morning.
Result: 12.04 common at 3am, 8.04 mirror at 8.00 am.
Bitten by the mossies, to add to the Italian bites.

Is it worth it? Time for a change methinks.

Monday 19/06 2 hours float fishing on a 10 acre mere, 8 rudd, 1 roach, 2 tench.

Stick to the float rod MANAGER it's much more fun than sitting behind a battery of carp rods.
Not picked my baitrunners up this year yet
