First decent cat of the season landed last week in continuing bad weather....60lb from Birch.

First cat, and the angler - a first visitor to France - was understandably over the moon...

After years of expectation producing many, many 30's Birch Lake has finally produced its first forty....

Paul Ashton originally of Grey Mist and Warrington and a regular visitor to Birch - now of Jersey - had a lovely mirror of 41lb 8oz this week, a new PB. Well done, Paul !

Thanks Jeff, I've tried to do things the right way in stocking with doubles/twenties from registered fish farmers and growing them on....this is probably also the hard way!

I could have easily cut corners and bought instant 40's or bigger, or do what many have done and stolen big fish from public venues...

My regulars appreciate that fact I feel, and come year after year to fish for natural fish in beautiful tranquil surroundings...
