How can you say its 50..when its never been caught, or at least not to my knowledge..

The Colemere Common was a '50' , look how big that ended up being... 40 with spawn, 37 natural weight.

I'll be suprised if its actually even a 40

If its the same lake we are talking about

Oi Oi Stez me ow mucker,
Lets not forget the circumstances of said Cole fish. It had (has) the frame of a fish 42-44lb but is (or at least was) a NATURAL FOOD fish and therefore the frame does not hold the same weight as a BAIT FISH. Hear it time and time again "big uncaught common" and fair enough they do exist but lets not go putting weights on these beasts coz after all the weight is really irrelevant and it is THE FISH that counts and the achievement (eg Little Rob's capture)... Anyone think me and Hotshot said "unlucky" to our cockle picking friend when we photographed said Cole fish at 37+? I think not. Bit like when the same angler had Basil at 44+ and someone said "unlucky" coz it wasn't over 45lb. Wot a tit.
The water I fish down south is rumoured to hold a very large uncaught common and I have a very open mind about this fish but ignore the weights bandied around, it is the fish itself that counts, the weight is by the by... Estimates are simply that until the fish is in the sling on the scales. What do you angle for; special ones or a "numbers game" of my PB is bigger... Why does Dave Lane hold the capture of Black Jack in such high regard? Coz it is a special one, weight is irrelevant when chasing such fish.
So 50lb Common... Yeah whatever, go catch it, weigh it and see which gives the bigger buzz, the weight or the achievement!
I will now retreat back to my little hovell in Middlesex

right, i havent seen the pics (laugh all you like, i dont care) but i have it on very good authority from a well respected angler that the fish i have mentioned has been banked at over 50lb. a number of people have also said that they have seen fish to collosal sizes in this venue.

Darth Mullet, why dont you just retreat back to your hovell like you said you will, im guessing you wont even know the water even if i named it (its not a secret anyway, just out of respect for the reason its a closed water i shall not name it). as i said before, id love to "go catch it" as you put it, but sometimes things are easier said than done. if you dont believe me, go find out for yourself, you may well be supprised

big respect to those who go out and break the law, but its not for me, rule bending i can handle, but any more doesnt interest me. as i mentioned before, i know why the water is closed to access and i respect the personal feelings of the owners of the property

not being funny, and as a lymm member im all too aware of the rubbish they make up, but its no secret that some very well known anglers are fishing there because they have seen the fish in question. prehaps you could tell me why they would bother being there if the fish they are fishing for isnt that big???

Andy,
Think youve got the wrong end of the stick here mate. My reply was to missin and not about the authenticity of the fish.

Chill!
