First frost round here this morning, pretty heavy to.
How do you think the first couple of frosts affect carp fishing.?

Ice on the Goldfish Pond down here in Zummerzet this morning; the frosty weather will affect carp anglers more than the carp and hopefully thin their numbers out a bit. (the carp anglers - not the carp)

If the carp have read the same books/articles as me the first frosts should slow the fishing down a bit then when the carp reaclimatise themselves go back to normal

But in reality in recent years i have found the first frosts the kiss of death, maybe i'm just getting old and not tryin hard enough

Over the last 6 years I've done well evening fishing in November when the temperature drops very quickly, also done well in mornings with a sudden temperature rise.

Nov. 17 to 19 is nearly always frosty at night.

Not to many plus sides to heavy frosty weather.
Bankspace is one them, but i dont think it compensates for catching nothing. Rather spend the Winter evenings on the Beach, loads of bankspace and plenty of action. Cleveleys here i come..

you could alway's come along and see how far six ounces of lead will travel (in the right hands) of course.

the first frost we get is/perhaps a kiss of death to carp fishing, but NOT in permanent mode tho. but on a plus, is a signal to fish to get there heads down bigtime in the next few days/week or two, after that its down to small amounts of bait in the RIGHT place and at the RIGHT time. it would appear that the best time of day would be midday for a take, (taking in weather facters ect in at the time of year/month) but there again EACH water has its own examples of catch times. it will be down to you the individual to find the right format to produce a fish or two.

Sorry you must have misunderstood what i was saying...
I meant casting six ounces of lead , ... not carrying it 150yds in your rucksack..
Memories of many poor casters comes to mind here, (the island isn't that far) better forget who they were. ......... before someone publishes it.

Can't believe it Tudge, took a little exercise yesterday and walked around the Notourious Water Park(By the way an excellent article , I remember fishing infront of the island when it was barren, catching numerous little perch, pictures brought back some pleasant memories, thank you). A little whisp of white around the Penines and only two rods on It was 8C at 1pm a slight easterly blowing and just about perfect.
Thought Bone-idle (Sorry Boneo )was on, he 's been on about taking a last '' Angry'' look at it (Twice in a year to same rod- he's no chance) forgot where he was, then remembered while walking, he was out playing with his little instrument

Thanks for the feedback Bandit,.. there is more to come about the N/West.. word processor is on auto pilot.. It was a pleasure to write, but a shame i couldn't cram a lot more in there, and to add a few stories about some of the characters that we have had the pleasure to meet along the way.

Don't forget Peg Pincher.

Peeps deffo deserves an article all to himself.

A legend in his own Baittub.

Every fecking saturday morning I'd wake up staring at those two on the open bank.
