You have not really made any suggestions that go with the majority feeling.
After reading this lot for several days now, I see that you have not suggested anything decent and seem to knock most semi realistic comments that people are making.
Yes, some comments are total over the f##king top, I include some of my own comments in that catagory, but why do you have to take such a fence sitting attitude.

In an ideal world we would be more or less free from the risk of having our gear nicked etc etc... but unfortunately this country we live in will soon be a nightmare to live in as far as crime is concerned and fishermen protecting there hard earnt gear will be nothing compared to what will happen if these so called politicians dont pull there finger out and smell the coffee.

If so, did they receive a lengthy sentence?
Or did they receive community service orders and the chance to reflect upon their misdemeanours?
Because obviously, if it's the latter, they will now be fully rehabilitated/re-educated and sppend all their spare time doing voluntary work helping the elderly, bless 'em. There's no chance whatsoever that they will have made some other decent minded person suffer at their hands is there

Demon, a .50 is too heavy..I cary a colt defender when in bear country, and no gun at all when in less wild areas(no need...people are very much more polite here, it seems..)..pepper spray is always with me though..
And pepper spray would likely aided you greatly when you were getting beat, stabbed, screwdrivered...hey...are screwdrivers legal over threre, and if so, why!

Fair enough...I suspect this in the end is a topic that we well and truely whall have to agree to disagree on. I suspect that our cultures, while similar, just are at too great a variance for us to see eye to eye on this..
I will say that I belive personal freedome is valued a bit more highly here...but that is all in the eye of the beholder, I suppose. Our ideas of freedome, and what constitutes it, may just be so far apart as to not let us ever agree on the subjet of personal responsibility and protection of ones property and life.
