Just a word off warning to ya all.both myself and my friend were fishing a lake in Bolton, where we started to get some unwelcome attention. We then thought it would be a good idea to arm ourselves with a baseball bat each.Maybe these di**heads would think twice before trying to cause trouble,or take our gear Well this one night my friend woke me up to say a car had pulled up at the gate and there was one man walking round towards us.We were both stood behind my bivy each armed with bats.We crouched down as the man got near(by the way it was 3am)the man got right up to us so out we came, baseball bats at the ready. This was when my face hit the floor. This guy was a coper, out came his batton followed by verbal abuse. He had us both on our knees untill his partner arrived. He would not listen to reason,he just kept telling us how much trouble we were in.Looking back on it he must off s**t himself so at least it had the desired effect.Well lucky for us his partner was a carp angler himself and could see what had happened. The pair off us got the bollocking off our lives and were told in no uncertain terms that if we were caught with these bats again we would be down the nick!!!! I still cary my bat with me,if someone wants to nick my gear-please have a go,I might get in s**t but at least i will know that the low life (hopefully) came off worse

Ricky, while your anger is perfectly understandable, mate, you're leaving yourself open to some very serious comebacks by taking that Ratcatcher for protection - even if you don't actually shoot anyone with it.

Airguns (and that includes CO2-powered guns like the Ratcatcher) are regarded as full-on firearms when used unlawfully, and what you're doing IS unlawful, believe me. 'Intent to wound' carries a maximum sentence of life imprisonment, and although you'd be seriously unlucky to cop for that, you'd be lucky to escape some sort of custodial sentence, especially if you actually shot someone.

Even having the gun on the lake, unless you've got full permission from the owner, amounts to armed trespass, which is no laughing matter either.

The law is being tightened around misuse of firearms, mate - don't be a victim of it, OK?

Not lecturing you, just giving you a heads-up.

All the best.

Terry

cheers terry
will bear that it mind as i said its keep them away and i havent used it yet
also i have full permission to take it onto the lake as there is a huge rat problem and we have been told to take as many out as possible (that mainly the reason i brought it in the first place)

its also gun fun to shoot tin can when blanking aswell

Chop up some extra hot chilli's, dump 'em in some water in a small atomiser and spray in Face of scrotes ......

whilst Scrote/s are reeling in severe pain drop the feckers to the deck with small stout Branch(the one you just found on the floor....officer)

secure arms behind back and then to the feet with some stout cable ties.

......Urinating on them is optional at this point.

Phone police.

I can also personally recommend the addition of a couple of Rottweilers to your tackle collection. I havent found a more effective persuasion tool yet. Ive known some very handy gentlemen suddenly turn into babies when my 'girls' take an interest in them.

I have however had to stop taking them with me after an over protective swan had a go at one of them and a full on fight between the three of them kicked off. Funny afterwards but not at the time.

Help yourself to the tackle lads.

Yorkie,
Reason for asking is two blokes used to fish as a team on one of the waters I fished in Leeds.... and the first matched your discription...and the second had some teeth missing.

Ian,

Did they give anyone any bother, or were they genuine anglers,

Dan
