Guide as to how to display pics in any post

We have now amended the way you can upload and display images or photos in your post.

To add a picture, type your post as you would do normally then make sure the box saying 'I want to preview my post and/or attach a file' is ticked and click 'Continue'.

You will now be able to browse on your computer to the file you wish to upload. Click 'Continue' again and the picture will automatically be shown!

This places the picture at the end of your post. If you want to add more than one picture you will have to use the 'image' link in the Instant UBB code which also let's you position the image where you prefer.

We hope this will help members who have found it difficult to post pictures in the past. Why not try it below?

How to make your pics ready
Please note to keep the forum running quickly make sure the image is correctly sized and ideally optomised to make it load as fast as possible.

Basically this means any digital image has a size. Depending on what programmes you have loaded in your computer try to find a menu letting you reduce the size to a maximum of 400pixels wide and resave it. (if already at a small size then you can just upload it.

Graphics are ideally saved as a .gif
Pictures are ideally saved as a .jpeg (or .jpg)

Maximum file sizes should be no more than around 40kb.

Some graphic programmes and utilities also optomise pics for web display. You can find free versions on the net. These make sure your picture has too high a resolution. Even though your computer will display any image at 72dpi (dots per inch) it is possible yours (if taken from a digital cams) needs to be reduced.

Nearly there, the pic is up loaded. Now all you have to do is put the image in the post.



Open the attachment, copy the address from the address bar. Then go back to your post, click image (in the UBB code section) and paste the link.

Thanks Faze. It does seem there is a glitch - along with a SMTP error on some internal mail. Apart from that the server upgrade went well.

I have doanloaded the latest version of the forum software and am testing it out on a dummy location to make sure it works OK. When swapped over it should fix these problems.

You pics need to be on a website somewhere mate not on your C: drive. There is no way the forum can access your C: drive to display the pics. (at least you wanna hope it can't)!

I'll say again for those that havn't seen it in this thread.

There is a problem at the moment uploading pictures to the forum. We are looking into this but its proving a bit tricky to fix. You can only link to pictures that are stored on your own web space.

If anyone is desparate to post pics then e-mail them to me at rob@twfinternet.com and I'll put them on a server and give you the address to use.

You can't use html in posts its disabled you have to use ubb code.

In all cases above swap the curly brackets {} for square brackets [] and the code becomes live.
