Personally I don't rate spirulina, but then I have a few mates who know a thing or two about bait that do.. split decision on that one..
Bait formulation, when talking about this 'digestability' thing is wholly reliant on how much a carp can utilise.. and that depends on the first limiting amino acid..Ultimate protein content is of no relevance..
The aquaculture? meals in use still need supplementing, or at least combining with other protein sources that can give adequate supplies of whatever amino is missing from them for a carp.. let's not forget that whatever fishmeal you use, with the exception of one.. (anyone want to hazard a guess at this..??) you will have a deficiency of one or more aminos.........
Koi feeds are surprisingly low tech.. they just cost a lot..

in answer to your question Newbury, a good quality basemix can be made for £1 or less per kilo.. it will compete on equal terms with most baits on the market and £2 will get you the dogs dangly bits of bait...
It takes hard work to be research it and experiment, but it's worth t in my opinion...

Hard work, research and development, experiment.
Forget that, just post me your recipe and I will copy it, how hard can that be.

The answer to your "hazard a guess" question is Capelin meal.

alright m8..

Done any real hard work parties recently? All I can say is im glad I am 100% happy with my bait and have left this kind of debate to you lot!!! One thing I will say is there are a lot of good baits on the market and put in the right place at the right time will catch fish.
In 9 out of 10 cases being different as far as bait is concerned will catch fish. Get a bait, have 100% confidence in it, and spend more time worrying about where the fish are and how you are gonna catch them instead of worrying about what bait could be doing better..

Anyway all the bait on the market is s***e and Bandit is the best gear going.....lol...

Ciao da Beak.......

Since when has Dave ever said that? Or are you like some of the other people on this thread that chat s**t about people they dont even know? He's not in the business of making crap bait, which other bait companys have had the kind of sucess in Shropshire that Bandits have? I could tell you a few funny stories about so called good baits being put in by the barrow load and doing jack s**t...!

Let the results speak for themselves..

Da Beak........
