I was told by a reliable informant today that Warrington A.A have chosen to stock Moor Quarry with fish from the Bridgewater canal. This apparently has the blessing of the comittee but it appears doubtfull that it has the backing of the NRA and other such relevant parties as baliffs have been seen removing sacks from the Bridgewater containing carp and have said they are going into the Quarry. Like I said its all hear say but I do regard this person as being reliable, can anyone shed more light on the subject. If the above is true its BANG ou of order.

this is out of order hotshot if it has happened. most of our lakes have been stocked this
way but this type of carrying on is out of order it only incourges it to happen more
and we start to have more fish walking from one lake to another
it would be good to have frank lithgow's word's on this one
sorry if i did not spell your name right frank.anyone reading could you
let frank know

but i do find it strange this one as about 3 years ago i am sure they had
simmo's fish put into the quarry but that was a mad one as well as they
put very small fish into the quarry and its full of jack pike

Your right about the simmo's fish mate, they did put quite a few small'uns in and most if not all were pike fodder.

Unless I,m mistaken ,warrington anglers lease this canal,so how can they decide to take out fish. There's nothing stopping them leasing a water for a year, and taking out all the fish in the meantime.is it just me or is this wrong or even legal.

You can't move any fish from water to water, even if they are your own without the permission of the EA.

So yes!!

Your right on both counts mate. Not only that imagine the Bridgewater is your local stomping ground and someones helping theirselves to your fish, some of which may be you target fish. Or, your on the Quarry trying to target a specific fish and the chances of doing so are decreasing all the time thanks to half a dozen fish being stocked every other day. Not to mention the chances of wiping out the original stock or killing the "new" stockies. They dont have to be imports to do that. IF its true, its discusting !

Have you contacted the EA ? You might be able to find out whether or not the club have appropriate permission to legally move the fish (section 30). If the EA won't tell you, you can at least make them aware of your concerns. I guess following on from that you can discuss this at the club AGM. They could just deny it's happening but if you don't ask........

Come on, there must be someone who is in the know from Warrington AA on the site. Are the storys true? If so and the Quarry needed stocking, which it didn't why not buy some decent fish of a decent size so they could avoid the attentions of the pike? Not waste club money on buying 2 -3 inch Horseshoe carp to feed the pike and cormorants, thats if these fish were ever really bought.

Hi Hotshot (Intercontinental carp angler)

I would like to hope that WAA are not removing fish from the canal without a section 30.....although stranger things have happened!

Just of of interest, nothing more, who out there would like to put a figure on the amount of fish removed from the Bridgewater canal over the years, legally or illegally?, from what I know my estimation runs into the hundreds, lots have been removed from the Runcorn strectes near to me and have found their way to local park lakes etc...

It seems to me over the years some angling clubs in the area have removed fish from the canal to save money on buying in stock , when they could have well afforded to buy carp in from a dealer.

Over the years I have known of a few little crew's having a go on the Bridgy...are you still doing it??, has the canal done a geniune 30 yet?, Ive heard whispers of a 32 from Warrington way??, the best we got to was 25lb, they'll get there one day....

I guess the fish around Runcorn have all lost several pounds in weight since a certain angler move away , eh Hotshot ?

Joe

Do you have any contact details for Mark Simmonds - I've searched the net but only get politicians & sprinters!?!?!?

I am putting together a business plan for a fishery complex in the North West & I want to stock the best carp I can get my hands on with the funds I have at my disposal........

There's a certain tatooed warrington baliff who's been doing a bit of stocking from the canal, so i believe.

this is a good post for warrington anglers is this a red herring (pardon the pun)to get more anglers or is it a hotshot double bluff? to get northwich anglers to leave for warrington . strange the two clubs doing the totally opposite nothwich taking them OUT and warrington putting them IN carp that is.Why didn't they buy the commons out of billinge if they need fish I believe they went really cheap

No mate this is not a "Hotshot" double bluff, I was given this info and have no reason what so ever to doubt it as the informant is a very successfull and well respected NW carper who showed genuine concern for the alledged goings on. So I thought Id bring it on here to see if anyone could shed a bit of light on the subject.
