This is not now strictly true. The very fact that the site has a forum for non fishing related chat blows that one apart. Maybe what you should have said was, "We are primarily a fishing site, however we also have to be aware that as we have a forum for totally unrelated chat our arses are out on a limb everytime we inadvertently forget to check exactly what's been posted there"

Joking apart, you appear to take this libel thing to the extreme. John Leslie has recently been branded a rapist by just about all the national press who had no problem with naming him what so ever. No court case to resolve his guilt, no mention of the well worn phrase "allegedly" just bold statements.
I can't see why you are so cautious! The fishing world has already had a big libel case and this appears to have frightened the life out of the angling publishers and why, it only came about because the angling weekly involved (I can't remember which one otherwise I would name it) refused to publish a retraction or apology.
What ever happened to publish and be damned!

You seem to forget I have a job to do (yes, I'm an employee of the FW) and that includes protecting this site from potential legal action - however remote that prospect is.

I don't see any other angling site naming, names, including the site linked to ECHO. Why is that?

So how can you criticise FW for adhering to the same policy?

i don't believe naming names on here has got bugger all to do with libel,slander or whatever-at the end of the day paul ain't going to allow it because he's big mates with the gentleman concerned,simple.Avoids any possible embarrassing scenario's.Personally i know what i know about the said gentleman because i was around fishing the same waters as he was when he took the mail to the cleaners all those years ago.Remember,he didn't prove his innocence and they could'nt prove his guilt,funny old game ain't it?
