Here is a list of common problems you may encounter when using the fishingwarehouse.co.uk forum and how to fix them.

I TRY TO POST A NEW TOPIC OR REPLY AND I GET AN ERROR MESSAGE

a. Have you registered as a member? To make posts on this forum you have to register here

b. You have your browser set to not accept our cookies. Cookies are used to track your Username/Password and which posts you have read for your current session. Without accepting cookies some functions won't work properly. To fix this go to your browser preferences and make sure it is accepting all third party cookies. (they do nothing other than let the forum software know who you are - if the forum cannot see them it can't let you post!)

c. Firewalls. Many internet users install firewalls as extra security. However, if not set up correctly they block many sites from working properly - fishingwarehouse.co.uk included. To fix this you need to unblock the firewall so it accesses fishingwarehouse.co.uk. This will not compromise your security. Different firewalls have different settings but all will have the facility for you to make these adjustments.

d. Company firewalls! If you are browsing on a company network is it likely the system administrator has set a firewall to stop employees browsing! To fix this you have to speak to the IT administrator. . . best of luck

e. Sometimes cookies can become corrupted (read confused ) if you use more than one computer to access this site. If you do please remember to log out at the end of your browsing here so that the forum software sends you a new cookie when you log-in again using anther computer or connection.

I DON'T GET EMAILS!
When you make a message or reply you can set the software to automatically send you notification of who replies or sends you a private message. It even can send you a password reminder. You need to make sure your current e.mail address in your profile is correct or you will not receive these useful messages!

I HAVE LOST MY PASSWORD
When logging in - as long as you enter your correct e.mail address - the forum software can send you a new password thus overiding the one you just had. Follow the links and when you get the password mailed to you, you can login using this new password and then change it to one you prefer in your profile (My Home).

stephen, ive had mega problems the last couple of nights trying to get onto the warehouse, haven't had this problem before and couldn't understand why.
Where it would normally take a few seconds to come on the screen after so many seconds it was coming up time out gate 504 or something of that description. I know ime not the only one cause i skipped across to RMC SITE {SORRY} just to see if it was a problem with aol and sure enough bivvyman had posted F W DOWN and asked if anyone new why as he had the same problem as me, i have to tell you they didn't come back with any sensible answers {not surprising} so ime wondering if there has been loads of us with the same problem... and if so what is it ?
Be honest with you its done me ed in ive been having withdrawal symptoms
i think bivvyman has aswell !!!

Its a dilemia we have here almost on a daily basis with trying to keep the site open for everyone I agree - there seems to have been a problem. Bivvy has now posted and although it seems like an AOL bug I cannot be certain. It IS clear though that it is common with AOL. The way you reside in their 'system' means that is is perfectly possible they set their proxy servers to block cookies which would explain the fault. I suggest you follow Bivvy's advice " open internet explorer ----->TOOLS menue ----> internet options advanced tab scroll down the HTTP1.1 settings uncheck the box which says USE HTTP1.1 through proxy connections now go to the connections tab then make sure that the USE A PROXY SERVER box is unchecked then click on ok then clickon APPLY and OK. " We have not had a problem like this before and are looking into it. Obviously there may be many out there who cannot post so cannot even let us know so we can't help them! Also - much of the internet in the uk is currently down off the bt infrastructure for the past three weeks - it is therefore highly likely that this means users are overloading the AOL systems with traffic. I will give more gobledygook as we get it

Stephen, you may recall this email I sent you a good fwe months ago when I was having simillar troubles (and I'm not on AOL)

'Stephen, problem solved mate! I rang the tech support for Telewest Broadband and it was something to do with the LAN settings. I had to check the box for using a proxy server, type in an address and hey presto!! Job done and I'm able to post from home again. Have you come across this before? Anyways, thatnks for your time!'

Strange thing is, I had to do the opposite to Bivyman and the others and CHECK the proxy server box.

Don't know if this is relevent as I know next to naff all about these things!!
