Does anyone know how to free the drag system on rear drag reels. One of mine is still fairlytight even on its lowest setting.

You will probably find that there is one too many washers in the drag or no lubricant. Best bet is to strip it and see. If you do not feel confident in doing so send it off to somewhere like the Tackle Box for them to do it.

The other thing to do would be slacken off as far as you can then cast out a heavy lead and wind it back, the drag should slip while you are bringing it in which will help it loosen up. This is exactly what I do with new Emblems as they are always a little "tight" when new.

Cou7ld always try a some graphite powder, you should be able to get some from an engineering co....its a dry lubricant....used it on my bait runners, pre Emblem days, one of them had a dodgy clutch....
